In the past, when the National Archive wanted to get documents back, they would just send a letter to the former official's attorney giving a list of what they wanted, and the person would either comply, or say they don't have any of the docs on the list. No one in the history of the US has ever been raided pursuant to a National Archive record request. It's a first. How can it NOT be political. Even when Sandy Berger was found intentionally concealing classified docs in his sock, he was not charged with any crime, nor was his house raided to see if there were more.
Well, for one, he took classified docs. That in itself is a crime. They have been there for over 6 months and still the National Archives did not receive all the documents he took. This is a fishing expedition, so the most we can agree on is that the DOJ is probably ALLEGING that he took classified docs. I would not be surprised if this happens. There is no limit to the corruption the Left will engage in to stop Trump from running again in 2024, even falsifying evidence against him.
Only the judge who issued the warrant to enter the property knows what evidence was presented and what documents are thought to be at Mar a Lago. But you automatically assume there couldn't possibly be any legal justification. Based one what?

Therefore, NO subpoenas or subpoenas duces tecum have been issued by a court and no such subpoenas have been served on Trump. The DOJ opened an investigation regarding the documents pursuant to a referral from the National Archives.

Yeah, the AG looked at the historical precedents set by the Sandy Berger case and more recently David Petraeus and his mishandling of classified material and decided not to Purse charges.
