This guy has done nothing but spit in the face of conservatives for the past 8 years so the media would love him. He voted against tax cuts, wants liberal Supreme Court judges, wants open borders for our amigos, and actually takes global warming seriously. His defining campaign finance reform law has been a horrendous failure that has made special interests even more powerful while stifling free speech.
Now he's a bible thumping, tax cutting, prisoner torturing, gun toting right-winger and is asking for the conservative vote. Fuck You McCain!!!!
One of the best parts about being a Republican was not having to hold your nose and vote like most Democrats are compelled to do. McCain is the Republican version of Mike Dukakis. I can't stand Obama but I may have to sit this one out. Maybe if McCain gets trounced this election the Republicans will actually nominate someone who they believe in as opposed to some bullshit moderate.
why I voted for a snowball's chance in hell third party candidate in so many past election cycles.
Get used to Hamas being our best friend. Get used to higher taxes and exploding nanny state programs. Get used to changing the name of this country into The United Socialist States of America.
We moderates - and I am actually a moderate - have been plugging our nose for 8 long years with Bush. I support him, and he did a fine job as President, but he also massively screwed up in alot of ways. Despite his screw ups, he was still a gazillion times better than anything the Democrats could have elected. So now a moderate candidate has been chosen. Get the f/k over it and do your part to keep the socialists out of the White House.
I don't know where you got the idea that McCain wants liberal judges. He's never said anything of the sort. Are you wrong here, or are you lying when you said this?
I don't know where you got the idea that he wants open borders either. He has said many times he wants the borders closed. He is wrong about dealing with illegals "humanely" as he puts it, but that is at least a thousand times better than the socialists who would throw out the red carpet for every Jose, Juan, and a Fernando who wants to come here.
McCain was right about tax cuts when he voted no. It was the wrong time. We were in the middle of fighting not one but two wars. He is right about not raising taxes now too. Our economy is struggling, and raising taxes right now would be a disaster - something Obama clearly doesn't give a crap about.
And as far as campaign finance reform, thank GOD someone finally grew a set of balls to do something. McCain-Feingold needs alot of work, but thank GOD someone stood up and said its time to stop bribing our officials. In 2004, the pharmaceutical companies donated thousands to BOTH parties. ALOT of big businesses did that. How the hell is that SPEECH? It is outright bribery. Campaign finance still needs alot of work, but the first step was taken, and it was long overdue. Do you even REMEMBER that this was an issue Obama himself couldn't shut up about when he was running for the Senate? I don't see him actually putting his money where his mouth is and doing anything about it though. A portent of what we can expect from him as president - all talk, no walk.
So if your fragile stomach just can't handle voting for McCain, I respect that. I can respect a man who's limp wrist just can't be firmed up enough to do the right thing and pull the lever to keep the socialists parading as Democrats relegated to the minority in Congress where they can do little harm. I just don't want to hear you pissing and moaning when Obama's white house comes after your guns, eats up half your paycheck in taxes, starts paying crack mothers $5K for ever kid they can pop out, and becomes bosom buddies with our enemies. I can respect a man who will cut off his nose to spite his face, but I can't respect a whiner. So please by all means, do what you need to do, just don't whine about it afterward.
Amen, sister. (Maybe he's just venting.)
I'm no McCain fan, but it seems like the R's stumbled into the only R who could win, and the D's stumbled into the only D who could lose.
I don't want to whine, but it has been a long time since I voted FOR anyone, and that is not going to change this year.
and secondly, Harry I couldn't have said it better myself. The last time I ever voted FOR someone was Reagan in 84, and I sorta voted for Clinton in 96. I just didn't see much difference between him and Dole.
In hindsight Dole might have been better for the country, not because he would have been any better POTUS, but because we would not have had Ken Starr and Co giving the Dems an excuse to return the favor to the Reps in the 21st century. It was wrong when the Reps did it, it is every bit as wrong now when the Dems are doing it.
On the terrible off chance that BHO does win, remember that Carter helped spawn Reagan.
Version 1.0 was the guy I got to know over these last 10 years. I'm not going to support someone who was as big of a an adversary to my party and my conservative ideals as any Democrat. He's just a Democrat-Light with a 1/3 less big government solutions.
Republicans were once again conned by the media to believe that only a moderate can win the White House. After he loses we can nominate a CONSERVATIVE who will win next time. Reagan wouldn't have won without the massive failure that was Jimmy Carter. Let Obama be the massive fuckup we all know he will be so we can win back Congress and the White House. Remember, Democrats have not done a fucking thing in 8 years other than cry. They offer no solutions. Let the country be reminded as to who and what they really are.
I'm not going to vote for the lesser of two evils. That's what Democrats do. I'm a Republican so I'll vote my principles.
You are going to be presented with a choice between Obama, McCain, or a throw away vote. A vote for xxxxxx from a Republican is the same as a vote for Obama, same as a vote for Nader from a dem is the same as a vote for McCain.
There have been many con jobs by the media, but the fact that only a moderate Republican in this political would have a chance against any Democrat was no con job. This election should not even be a contest. The Republicans have nominated the only Rep that could win and the Dems have done the reverse.
Carter never would have won if it weren't for the political hangover from Nixon/Watergate. Do you really want to fuck up the country that badly again just because you're a little miffed at McCain?
I'd like to stay home because McCain pisses me off in a number of ways, but then I think about Obama in the WH and I realize the national security stakes are just too big. I lived through the Jimmy Carter years, 18% mortgage interest rates, gas lines two hours long, speeches telling us we had to get used to being SOL, meanwhile JC is making out the schedule for the WH tennis court. !!!!!!!!
This election is not about Bush's 3rd term. It's about Carter's 2nd term.
The stakes are way too high to punt and let the other guy fail right now. McCain ia dead on correct about one issue at least, and its the only issue that really matters. Elect Obama, and he will withdraw our troops from Iraq, which will destabilize Iraq in the short term, and lead to chaos in the entire Middle East in the long term. Sorry, I'm not willing to take that chance.
But like I said, go ahead and vote your priniciples. Four years from now we can try and elect another Bible thumping lunatic egomaniac to placate you, and hope he'll be able to start cleaning up the foreign policy disaster Obama will leave behind. It will be a job that will take decades, but hey, you'll have your priniciples to keep you warm at night.
I don't think Obama will pull the troops out. And I'm quite certain Hillary wouldn't have. He's too calculating and he's aware of what will happen if he does pull them out. He can just keep blaming Bush long after he's gone.
Look at it this way. The Congress is run by two massively liberal, anti-war Democrats. Sure they posture and make a lot of noise, but in the end they keep financing the war and approving wire taps.
Never under estimate the power of cowardice
Yes well, the operative word there is "think". You don't know, and I don't either. It is not a gamble I'm willing to take.
Aside from Iraq though, the list of reasons why Obama is utterly unfit to be President is a long one. To say that his would be Carter's second term is a massive understatement.
If you want to see us saddled with a Democrat long enough for America to see the error of letting the Dims run things, go right ahead. Not this election, and not this walking disaster of a candidate.
