We are now on the map for two things:

1. Me. Duh.

2. Our mayor Douglas Diny thought it would be smart and funny to remove the ballot box (on a Sunday, wearing a hardhat, and accompanied by a friend to take a pic to post to social media) and wheel it into the city clerk's office. Wausau is now being overrun and investigated by state and federal election officials, the FBI, the CIA, and any other alphabet agency. The man who ran and won on wasting less tax payer dollars is on a roll to waste the most! Great job Doug!!
Oh, and he might be arrested for these shenanigans. Downtown harvest fest this weekend should be interesting!

Who had the authority to put out the drop box and place it at a specific location?  Apparently the mayor didn't authorize it.

No, not the issue. It was not the specific location he had an issue about, he said the drop box was "not secure" as in not bolted to the ground. Apparently the city was to do this but Diny moved it before this was done. The word is that he may be facing a felony for "impeding" citizens from voting by moving the box. For one day.

"Apparently" is doing a lot of work here. Communities are allowed to decide if and where drop boxes are placed.  Who authorized it?

Wisconsin mayor carts away absentee ballot drop box, says he did nothing wrong.
.
"... The Wisconsin Elections Commission, in guidance sent in July to all 1,800-plus clerks who administer elections in Wisconsin, said *****it was up to municipal clerks to determine the location of drop boxes.***** ..."
.
"The U.S. Election Assistance Commission has a series of recommendations to ensure the safety of drop boxes not located inside buildings, including that they be under video surveillance, secured, in a well-lit area and a clear chain of custody is created for the retrieval of ballots. *****The Wausau drop box was under video surveillance but had not yet been bolted down.***** [The drop box was locked and unusable until bolted down, secured, and then unlocked.]

THE CITY CLERK HAD THE AUTHORITY, THAT'S WHO. NOT THE MAYOR.

The issue was not where it was placed, the issue was that it was not bolted to the ground. Diny played this stunt because it was not bolted to the sidewalk, not because the drop box existed or where it was placed. No one had an issue with the drop box so who authorized its placement was not in question.
