Why because the retro-fitting process to give it all the communications gear and other secret safety and defense upgrades will take years.

Again all of this whining is a moot point unless congress allows this.

So I’m betting the left is going to lose its shit over this idea. Now technically Trump can’t accept the gift,

U N L E S S . . .

From google

The Constitution (Article I, Section 9) prohibits anyone in the US Government from receiving a personal gift from a foreign head of state without the consent of Congress.

Sooo if congress consents? The US will get a 747 to use as Airforce One.

Now if (and it’s a big if) all that comes to pass? I’d go over every inch of that plane with the finest of toothed combs.

Just saying

Like we're too broke to buy a plane from our own companies?

It's a matter of public record that two new 747s have been on order for years to replace the current aging Air Force 1. But Boeing is a very fucked up company and there have been delays which have pissed Trump off. So this is his way of sticking it in Boeing's eye.
Here's a hint for Wanker: instead of continually posting about shit you've no clue about, why not just go on line and do a smidge of research before exposing your ignorance.
On the other hand, no, don't. I have too much fun ridiculing your stupidity.

Can’t we just Airbus Airforce One? I’d trust them over Qatar.

If Qatar wants to gift an "Air Force One" type 747 to Trump, why don't they just pony up $200M to $400M as a payment to Boeing to elevate the current AF1 project on a 24/7 high priority / early delivery bonus / guaranteed delivery by (some date) / penalty if late status. Boeing can use the $200M to hire more workers onto 3 shifts and not have to cut corners or testing.  With $400 M, they can build a dedicated hangar and support systems to expedite a new AF1 with no foreign tampering.
.
The US gets the originally requested AF1 (based on the 747-200 already in progress); Qatar picks up the "expedited processing" tab. Done. Over.
.
I read someplace about the age of the 747-8 Qatar is offering as a gift. I cannot find the info using google right now. One story claimed that the "Palace of the Sky" 747-8 is more than 10 years old. (The 747-8s entered service in 2010.)
.
Qatar can cough up $1B (cash) to pay Boeing for an EXPEDITED new AF1 based on a 747-8 or any other model of the Air Force / DoD's choice.

Trump used an analogy to justify his desire to accept the "Palace of the Sky." He mentioned Sammy Snead, a famous pro golfer.
http://www.youtube.com/shorts/fdK8TesZXaQ
"... He had a motto. When they give  you a putt, you say, "Thank you very much." You pick up your ball and you walk to the next hole. A lot of people are stupid. They say, "No, no, I insist on putting it." Then they putt it and they miss it and their partner gets angry at them."
.
WHO DOES THE "GIMME" BENEFIT? Snead! If Snead can't make the putt (EARN the putt), does he deserve to win? "Who" is offering Snead the hole? A business man hoping to do some kind of deal (product endorsement?) with Snead? Is there a quid pro quo? Is the gimme a 2-inch tap in or a 16-footer off of the apron or a 30-footer out of the rough? Or is it some other emolument worth $400 M?
.
Is everyone else in the competition going to get a gimme like that?
.
Trump says that this Christmas, girls can't have 20 or 30 dolls, they can only have 2 dolls. Too bad for them. But Trump can have $400M 747.  Why doesn't Trump ask Qatar to donate $400M worth of gifts (dolls, toys, clothing, books ...) to agencies that will distribute them to kids who don't have gold toilets in their homes.

Why because the retro-fitting process to give it all the communications gear and other secret safety and defense upgrades will take years.

According to what I read (sorry - no time to track down links), POTUS is not required to fly in an official AF1. POTUS can choose to fly in any aircraft he wants to. Although you would think that POTUS is being advised to use only secure communications, POTUS can call anybody he wants on any phone he wants. (Everybody below POTUS probably has more specific and stringent requirements regarding security and accountability for violations.)

Remember when,  in a private meeting in the Oval, Trump disclosed top secret info to Russians Lavrov and Kislyak during his first months in office? When told what he had done, Trump said that he can declassify anything he wants and tell it to anybody he wants.

Trump revealed intelligence secrets to Russians in Oval Office
,
"President Donald Trump disclosed highly classified information to Russia’s foreign minister about a planned Islamic State operation, two U.S. officials said on Monday, plunging the White House into another controversy just months into Trump’s short tenure in office. The intelligence, shared at a meeting last week with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, was supplied by a U.S. ally in the fight against the militant group, both officials with knowledge of the situation said. ...
.
"... Some U.S. officials have told Reuters they have been concerned about disclosing highly classified intelligence to Trump. One official, who requested anonymity to discuss dealing with the president, said last month: “He has no filter; it’s in one ear and out the mouth.” ... "

"... The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said. The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump’s decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency. ..."
So, if the "Palace of the Sky" arrives tomorrow, POTUS can say he wants to use it as his means of transportation and that he doesn't need secure comms.

A quick AI inquiry is gauging Boeing’s ability to deliver the new planes sometime between 2027-2029. The Qatari 747 could probably get a comms upgrade installed by sometime in 2026 (within a year). Trump will be flying in a gold plated version of Air Force One before his term is over.

You don't have to be a "military aviation expert" to know this. You just need to be able to read.
