that as consumers, a good amount of us will be participating in the festivities. Consider this a PSA. Its not hurting anyone, is it?

What is the point of your "PSA" as you call it?  To make us feel guilty as consumers?  That we were fortunate enough to live in a country where we can feed and clothe ourselves?

That is one of the reasons we celebrate THANKSgiving.  We give thanks for the blessings bestowed on us.  One of those blessings is the fact that 56 men got together and sacrificed life, property and honor to create the most free and prosperous nation that mankind has ever known.

Followed up from your message somone leaps on and makes some post about CEO salarys.  SO WHAT?  What does this have to do with anything?  Why not post Professional Athlete pay or Celebrity pay?

Thanks to our founding fathers, we have the opportunity to prosper.  Thanks to us, we do, but some of us seem to think that just because the founders did what they did, that we're entitled to our wealth and prosperity without further thought or effort.  Some of these individuals even think that it's acceptable to let others suffer and die because they think there is opportunity for those who suffer and that they are not taking matters into their own hands.
Obviously you're not one of those people because you feel guilty.  Maybe you're catholic.  A more useful thing to do would be to alleviate your guilt and provide some small assistance to the people who cannot help themselves.
And yes, this is a bit of a troll post

You do realize this is the P&R board, right?  This kind of comment is exactly what belongs here.  Agree with it or not, he's made a political statement with, for some, religious implications.  It belongs here.  Your suggestion he did it to "hurt someone" is ludicrous.  All he's doing is pointing out the disparity between wealth/consumerism and abject poverty.  If you feel hurt by it, perhaps you should look in the mirror.

Now it's the P&R board, originally it wasn't.

I could care less about the statement or it's implications.  It's inane but, unfortunately the misguided mindset of many these days.  As if Black Friday or consumerism would have any impact on starving people in the third world.

Now that the post is in it's proper home, I'll leave you to yours and we can get back to local mongering related topics in MN.
