Re: I’m just trying to avoid a paywall, IMP. (Imp Also Threw Logic Out The Window)
Below is a link to the article. Using another site that cross posted it to avoid the NYT paywall.
What’s astonishing about this is that the many lefties who still use such nonsense words like “misinformation” were wrong about literally everything. And all the “conspiracy theorist kooks” were right about everything. Weird, huh?
The reason why science has any value at all is because it can make predictions. One of these two groups had their predictions come true. The other group was wrong about everything.
Who here still believes COVID was caused by a wet market?
Please post in the affirmative if you do...

"Overall, we rate DNyuz right-center biased and Questionable due to blatant plagiarism, the use of poor sources, and a complete lack of transparency."

"In review, DNyuz does not publish original content but rather copies and pastes (plagiarizes) content from major news sources. ... A review of sources they copy reveals more favor the right, with some having poor track records with fact-checkers."

2. Dnyuz links to the NY Times, but does NOT link to the actual article:

(Note the /opinion/ part of the link.)
By Zeynep Tufekci, NYT Opinion Columnist

On a first read, my main criticism is where she says, "... human-animal contact in that ****seafood market.****" Wuhan has both a seafood market and it also has what is called a "wet market." Wet markets are all over China (and East Asia). They keep live animals, of all sorts, in close proximity. Birds, bats, pangolins, ...
"Green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty-back camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn" (Shel Silverstein)

.
There is a known history of wet markets as probable origins of zoonotic diseases.

3. willy can't get past a headline. The full article ends with: "*****We may not know exactly how the Covid pandemic started,***** but ***if*** research activities were involved, that would mean two out of the last four or five pandemics were caused by our own scientific mishaps. Let’s not make a third."
.
She also says, "... Only an honest conversation will lead us forward. Like any field with the potential to inflict harm on a global scale, research with dangerous, potentially super-transmissible pathogens cannot be left to self-regulation or lax and easily dodged rules, as is the case now. The goal should be an international treaty guiding biosafety ..."
.
Yes, there is controversy. She says, and willy ignores, "We may not know exactly how the Covid pandemic started."
Scientific research, especially hazardous research, is subject to numerous REGULATIONS in the US (CDC regs, EPA regs, FDA regs, DoE regs, scientific and technical organization regs, local (specific site) regs ("You can't do that here."), etc.). I assume that PRC allows hazardous research under less strict regs.
.
What I can't figure out is why willy and other MAGAs don't want to go along with Trump and REMOVE regs and let scientists in the US do whatever risky research they want to do and dumping their waste in the air, nearest field, lake, and river.
.
willy thinks he has discovered what HE wants to be "TRUE" [lab origin of Covid] but he ignores the conclusion of the article: "*****We may not know exactly how the Covid pandemic started,*****"
In case you haven’t guessed, I will never give the NYT a goddamned dime, so finding a site that cross posts their articles is the only way I can access their content. Since they just copied and pasted the article, the bias of said site (which I’ve never heard of) is irrelevant.
What you seemed to have missed is that this article was written by Zeynep Tufekci, who’s written extensively praising Covid boosters and masking. She was wrong, and now she’s trying to save face with this article.
Straight up impus do you believe the wet market was the cause?
