Saw this on the GD board...I felt that it would be more appropriate to respond here.

we are both on the same page.  work together to achiving that the gangs and the insane dont have them. the argument that there is nothing we can do, we are helpless is utter impotence. if all of us, including you as you say, dont want the gangs and the insane to have these weapons then lets work together to achieve that instead of being doped into believing there is nothing we can do.  if you really, really believe that you dont want the gangs/insane to have these, then find some conviction, some courage, some anger about the dead 20 children and work together to achieve the gangs/insane to not having this stuff, legally or illegally.  but to keep saying there is nothing we can do will achieve the gangs/insane to continually have them, and another 20 dead children some day.  if you believe that the insane gun will lead to your gun taken away (and there is nothing to support that) then fight for that line with everything you got, and I would join you. lets achieve a safer world by having no bullets flying in the air from the gangs/the insane.
This is the part I find strange in the whole debate.

1. Why the guilt trip, with the attempt of changing popular opinion, to amend the second
   amendment?

2. Why include gangs, and the criminal element that gangs promote to the argument?
This reasoning turns this in to a straw man. Since there is no evidence linking mass shootings to
gang members, or at the very least a second suspect.
