If a particular spot is too dangerous for the President to visit personally, he should send his wife, and their 15 year old daughter. Furthermore, send along a comic and a singer for added security.

Oh wait, silly me, that only applies when Hillary is the first lady :)

I swear to God, I can't stop laughing at this "landing under sniper fire" story. Apparently, "misspoke" is the new euphamism for "I told a bald faced lie, and was too stupid to realize that there were cameras there to catch me lying"

LOL oh this is far worse than anything Al Gore ever said - with the exception of "well, I drank alot of tea so I had to piss alot, and that is why I never noticed money changing hands illegally".

At least with the internet quote, it really came down to interpretation, and quite frankly, what Gore said was not a lie, just a poorly worded statement of fact.

But when you say you landed under sniper fire and had to run for a motorcade, when in fact you climbed off a plane to be greeted by an 8 year old who read you a poem - that isn't just a misstatement, its a bald faced lie.

LOL Boy Democrats can sure pick them :)

for in fact - the internet (or more importantly its predecessor) was around LONG before Gore "invested in" it's founding... As he says he meant.  And that IS historical fact.

My original diatribe on Gore and the frickin internet stoopidity is below with the link to the link.  Oh... and as for the global warming...

http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/11/brrrr-south-america-has-coldest-winter.html

http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2008/20080313_coolest.html

let's face it - the man spins truth to what he wants it to be - rather than what 'tis.

"as it is buried in the post below... so here tis.... Gore and the frickin internet!

while Gore did not exactly say that he invented the internet... what he did say is actually worse... as on 9 March 1999 in an interview with Wolf Blitzer he stated

"....During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

That is, he lead the group that created the internet!  lol!

"The first recorded description of the social interactions that could be enabled through networking was a series of memos written by J.C.R. Licklider of MIT in August 1962 discussing his "Galactic Network" concept. He envisioned a globally interconnected set of computers through which everyone could quickly access data and programs from any site. In spirit, the concept was very much like the Internet of today. Licklider was the first head of the computer research program at DARPA, 4 starting in October 1962. While at DARPA he convinced his successors at DARPA, Ivan Sutherland, Bob Taylor, and MIT researcher Lawrence G. Roberts, of the importance of this networking concept."

so in 1962 WHERE was FREAKY GORE!?  in 1962 he was what  14 yrs old...  oh, i get it he was working in his basement!  all the while... just like Bill Gates or Steven Jobs.... yea, thats right... workin in the basement

Seriously, Gore misspoke. he did NOT take the initiative in creating the internet.  It existed already.  He did lead the senate in pushing through legislation to fund an expansion of the existing network.

Get over yourselves... the guy exaggerates fact... or most often - fabricates "fact" from the musings of his mind."

If President Eisenhower had said in the mid-1960s that he, while president, "created" the Interstate Highway System, we would not have seen dozens and dozens of editorials lampooning him for claiming he "invented" the concept of highways or implying that he personally went out and dug ditches across the country to help build the roadway. Everyone would have understood that Ike meant he was a driving force behind the legislation that created the highway system, and this was the very same concept Al Gore was expressing about himself with his Internet statement".

hillary got caught with her britches around her ankles... she lied... dodging bullets... sure... she was dodging bullets... probably from ex-Rose law firm incarcerated folk.  gimme a break.  All these folks would be better off telling the truth rather than hiding behind a web of incredibility.

lets face it, if you read obama's book - he hides little.  and he provides a rags to riches story that is typically american.... where does he go wrong?  To keep saying that you cannot make it in america if you are black.  sorry, but he is the best evidence that if you work hard - you can make it.  The social programs intended to help - keep people from helping themselves.

and no, I don't accept that al gore was innocent in his misstatement.  it was caluculated... read my entire post.  also read the articles on antartic cooling... yet another fabrication built out of half truths... but one which will line his pockets...  with gold.

get real...

and for the record - DID Ike say that he invented the Interstate?  not likely since Ike himself would credit the autobahn as the inspiration for the interstate... never mind his participation in a transcontinental convoy in 1919- makeing that an almost 40 year association with the interstate concept before he signed the bill into law in 1956.   quite the contrast to Al "fucking the world for personal gain" Gore whose association with the internet was less than a decade.  For the record, FDR wanted the entire system to be toll!  imagine - paying for the highway with gas taxes, and a use tax on top of that....   to say nothing of the self perpetuating jobs that toll booths seem to spawn...

If you don't like the material written in a news article you shouldn't post it. At the very least you should read it to see if it actually supports the premise that you are trying to advance. I don't know how you could have missed the part about Obama supporting a gun ban in DC, or do you in your koolaid addled brain actually believe that a total ban on handguns does not infringe on an indviduals right to bear arms?

BTW I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I didn't move to Atlanta till I was 35, I don't particularly like Rush Limbaugh and if you've ever read any of my posts you'd know I absolutely despise the "Christian Right"

Well, I'm a little confused on the Obama 2nd. Amendment issue, because I clearly heard him say in a prior debate that he believes in 2nd. Amendment rights......Its like when Rudy Giuliani used to say that he is pro-choice, YET he supports justices like Scalia & Thomas, who would overturn Roe V. Wade if they could....That's double talk...

Of course it's double talk. You firmly portrayed him as a supporter of the second ammenment yet you posted a link that clearly states that he supports banning "ALL" handguns in DC. You, and he can't have it both ways. He is a lying, pandering politician, just like the rest of them.

As far as your quiz goes, perhaps I am more liberal or libertarian than YOU think. You are the one portraying me as a far rightwinger. The truth be known, I have always considered myself closer to the libertarians than either major party. Your little quiz bears that out, my answers place me squarely in the Libertarian camp.

If you can be honest with yourself about the Obama 2nd Ammendment issue, maybe there is hope for you yet, maybe you are not the rabid left winger that you portray yourself to be. You don't have to love the right to be honest about the left. Try the middle, independent thinking might be a pleasant change from follwing party lines, EITHER party.

Where is your Ike quote that is similar to Gore's quote?  nowhere, that's where - cause Ike was not as stupid as Gore.

Really - with the pervasive news media ALWAYS recording everything anyone in the public eye says... and their willingness to "use the quote" in a manner likely to distort and defame a person to suit the reporters own "world view" should a politician be smart enough to monitor what he or she says, and then be smart enough to know when and where they lied!?? and to NOT get caught??  really - this is just too much...

so Moose... respond to me.  provide the quotes... and reference your work...  no points if your work is tardy.

To be frank, 2nd. Amendment issues don't concern me, I don't own a gun, & probably never will....I don't have anything against gun ownership & believe in the right to bear arms....I'm more concerned with 1st. Amendment type issues...

You've also tried to categorize me as a "far right wing kook". the kook part might be debatable, but again using your own link my positions put me in the Libertarian camp, the far right.

Which one of us is doing the name calling, I asked you to support your own link and you responed by calling me a right wing kook. You still haven't answered my original question, unless stating that your own issue is unimportant to you is to be considered an answer.

The comparison was being made that IF Ike said he created the IHS, people would NOT have taken that LITERALLY (ie; Ike digging the ditches & painting the yellow lines on the road), like they did when Gore made the internet comment...

And of course, Gore's internet comment was fodder for Republicans, since he made that comment as his presidential campaign was getting underway in 2000.....So, that was a perfect time for the Republicans to take something OUT OF CONTEXT, which they did to a Hall of Fame level....

Clearly drawing an inference to IKE Was way off base... as I pointed out, Ike actually had almost 40 years of experience in military transport when he signed the law for the interstate into effect... 40 fricking years... of transport - in addition to the direct observation of transport layouts on other continents... yea.... that really does compare to a c students musings wrt what he wanted you to believe he did... and what he actually did!

Sorry Moose, but your guy is just as big a lying cheating politician as any other candidate running, probably more so.

I guess it's ok for a partisan to only care about certain parts of the Constitution, personally I believe the second ammendment helps ensure the first.

I would love to say that I support all 27 Ammendments equally, but that would be a lie. I definitely would be against the 18th which makes me a big fan of the 21st. I'm not too crazy about the 16th, but I guess it's a neccesary evil.
