Many on this board seem to have a good idea, that being that this system in which we choose our leaders is terminally corrupt.
I mean what the hell can be said about a system which gives some welfare queen with 8 kids all sucking at the tits of the productive segment of the population as much say in who our leaders are as say a nuclear scientist? Am I the only one who sees something wrong with that??
The ancient Greeks who coined the term Democracy never could have forcast that one day all featherless bipeds would participate. Any nation which determines citizenship, and grants the right to vote, solely on being born in the land area encompassing the nation is a nation headed toward destruction.
Of course the aliens who control the media and thus the establishment have convinced people that it is "bigoted" , "elitist", and other similar nonsense. They condemn things used in the past to weed out those morons who shouldn't have any say (literacy tests,etc).
Personally I think the current system insults the intelligence of anyone with any said intelligence. Yet people seem to continually fall for the illusion that every 4 years they get to hold the levers of power. I pity these folks.
Leaders should be chosen on the basis of proven ability. They should have a proven track record of high character and commitment and a track record for working for the common goals of the nation.
Democracy today caters to those cads who can promise the rabble castles in the sky and it is the sheep controlled by the mass media who pick our leaders.
A better way of choosing leaders would be a council of sorts, a group of individuals who have been intrusted with the nations fate because they have an unselfish desire to see the nation prevail and prosper and who don't value their own personal gain over that of the nations.
And there must be a real penalty for lack of performance or treachery in the leadership cadre. Losing an election and having 25,000 per speaking engagement as a penalty for bad leadership is why we have such scum as leaders today.
Heads must roll again, we have become too civilized for our own good.
Agreed. The hell of America's economic and social woes, and those still to come, are a result of the American people's toleration of it. They deserve their fate.
People of stronger stuff in healthier times would not simply wait for elections to come around in order to relieve bad leaders of their duties.
