It was easy enough to figure out what would happen when we knocked Saddam over - that there would be a civil war that we couldn't resolve, and would probably be a net benefit to the Iranians locally, and the Chinese globally; and easy enough to see that resources diverted from running down bin Laden would result in an endless hemorrhage of blood and money.
