So he's suspending his campaign until the crisis is averted.  Right.

Good thing he's suspending his campaign and setting politics aside and he won't have to have his surrogate Nancy Pfotenhauer on MSNBC today.  Oh right, he did.  Maybe she didn't get the memo.

Nice that he wants to keep this thing non partisan, and all campaign activity is coming to a screeching halt, so I guess he won't have his surrogate Tucker Bounds on Fox attacking Obama and Biden.  What's that?  He was on?  Dang, must have missed that one.

But it's definitely very commendable that he wants to lead by example and has called on Obama to stop his campaign activities.  So McCain would never have his aide Mike Duhaime on TV attacking- what's that?  Duhaime was on TV today?  Didn't he know McCain is suspending his campaign?

Well at least they stopped running their political ads on TV.  I mean come on, any campaign that is suspended surely wouldn't continue to air attack ads.  That would be-  oh.  What's that?  The ads are still on you say?  In swing states even?  Oh well, McCain's a maverick so you can't expect HIM to play by the rules right?  I'm sure they'll get around to stopping their advertising.  McCain's very busy you know.

So busy, in fact that saving the economy and suspending his campaign will take a back seat tonight while he does prime time interviews on ALL THREE of the networks.  Good thing he has time to squeeze that in between suspended campaign activities.

In fact, it makes perfect sense now that he doesn't have time to debate.  Suspending your campaign looks like it occupies even more time than running one.

Just saying you will cancel ads is not as easy as that statement . They  are uploaded by computer and schedules and it takes time to cancel them with the networks and local stations. It is not as easy as you think.

You're absolutely right Timbow, so for now let's give that one to McCain.

But you do know that his offices across the country are still up and running, accepting volunteers, conducting hone banking, literature dropping, and other GOTV activities.

If you think this is anything but political it requires a "suspension" of disbelief.

Ok, bad pun.  You can flame me for that one.

I thought  he just said  ads .
John McCain has gained ground and is now tied with Barack Obama among registered voters in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update for Sept. 22-24, with each candidate getting 46% support.

The Gallup Poll
Wonder if that wild mavrick move helped to stop Obama's surge in the polls:)

Yeah, I saw that Gallup thing.  Maybe this suspending the campaign thing is working for him.

On the other hand, the other national tracking polls tell a slightly different story:

9/25: Hotline/Diageo Pres-Tracker: Obama 47%, McCain 43%

9/25: Rasmussen Pres-Tracker: Obama 49%, McCain 46%

9/25: Res. 2000 Pres-Tracker: Obama 49%, McCain 43%

Not to mention the NBC/WSJ poll that had Obama up 52-43.  Or the Fox poll that has Obama up 45 -39.

So time will tell about the Maverickiness of his recent moves.

Maybe Lieberman can explain what suspends mean to him.  An phone survey of 15 McCain campaign offices in battleground states found none planned to suspend operations.
