I was just skimming the headlines on the Drudge Report and came across this one that has left me and my driver BOILING mad.  My great grandfather fought the Japanese during World War II alongside American and British soldiers.  He was captured and forced to help build railroads that included the Bridge on the River Kwai.  Many of his friends died of starvation, construction accidents, or were murdered by Japanese soldiers so I feel this callous disrespect to the American WWII soldiers who sacrificed so much to help my country impacts and is an insult to me directly.

I can't for the life of me understand how anyone could disrespect and threaten with arrest these elderly, but still valiant, men who sacrificed so much for America, my birth country of Burma, and the world during.  These men have very little time left to say their goodbyes and pay their respect to the fallen that passed before they too pass to join their comrades in arms in the halls of history and hero's.

I have had to restrain my language so that this post would not be pulled by Admin but if you can visualize my head spinning in circles projecting vomit then you have a good idea how I feel about this TRAVISTY!

The memorial was an exercise in government waste. The U.S. government spent 16 Million dollars of tax payer money on the project.

Shouldn't the entire country be the memorial for their service?

someone enters into it, that's called trespassing! And, you will, typically, be arrested for doing so. See my post above regarding who most people blame of the memorial being closed!   ;)

Tell that to the mothers, fathers, family members, and friends of those who were served, the wounded, and the dead.  Symbols are important to people.  Yes the fact that America still stands is a testament to these men's service.  The American government wastes Hundreds of Millions of dollars on stupid crap every year.  The fact that you quibble over a paltry 16 million is really insulting to these men considering the sacrifice of their generation.

Memorials such as this serve the purpose of being physical evidence of the country's gratitude, a place to gather in remembrance, and an inspiration to future generations.  Consideration the poor education standards I have observed since I have been in the US I would not doubt that without these memorials these men's service will be quickly forgotten by the population in general.

The picture below is just for you . . .

the nation can no longer afford to maintain it?

The total amount raised to build the memorial was $197 million some federal funding, along with private donations.

Why not give that 197 million dollars right to the VA hospital to pay the medical expenses, of WWII vets?

Provided the VA hospital spent the funding in an efficent way, wouldn't that be money better spent?

Sweety, there is NOTHING in your link to suggest Obama personally ordered arrests of anybody. The Park Service suggested people could be arrested for "trespassing" after National Parks were closed, but if you follow the article you posted, nobody was arrested even after the Vets removed barricades  and moved onto the closed property in question. No disrespect, no harm done.

You aren't getting it. The Republicans shut the government down and all the polls indicate the American Public understand this.

Hero's.  The fact remains he is the president and as such DOES set the tone of how policy is enforced.  There is no doubt you are a bit blinded by Obama's magnificence!  Why don't you try to be a bit more objective.   As I recall from my studies President Roosevelt said he buck stops here and he was a democrat.  What has changed since then?

Uh, no. I don't see Obama as "magnificent" at all. I think he is a very weak president. I just read the article you posted looking for what you said he did. It wasn't there.

I posted the article for the various links to the different polls which all show how unpopular this action is and that the public overwhelmingly considers it to be the fault of Republicans.

It's NOT Drudge Report, genius. It's Slate. Weren't you the guy who bragged about his religious studies and then declared Hinduism or Buddhism were not religions?

Oh, I think you are intelligent, I just didn't see the arrests threatened by Obama the title of your post suggested in the article. I think this country has some pretty awful politicians regardless of political party.

Actually, Veteran were allowed. Why don’t you read some mainstream paper instead of useless Drudge report. People like are the one’s who keep these good for nothing fuck yards around.

It is your option to fill your head with misinformation and fry your brain. Do you even realize, if what said had actually happened, CNN, FOX and the rest will all over it.

How do you feel about the green stuff on your face.

Read OP’s first sentence. Here it is below for you re read:

"I was just skimming the headlines on the Drudge Report and came across this one that has left me and my driver BOILING mad”.

Get it genius.

I did declare that and it is accurate. But you don’t have the capacity or ability to understand neither did the British or their Caucasian predecessors. You won't understand the depth and breadth of Hinduism even if you tried for rest of your life.

I'm afraid I'm ahead of you on that last part but I will agree the Brits got it entirely wrong. You may have been critical of the OP, but you were responding to my post. But that's OK, you clearly are a genius.  Feel better, now?

It is just as I suspected.  Who owns this country?  I can understand why a building such as the Smithsonian would be closed during this time to protect the contents.  Preventing WWII Veterans from taking a walk in the park at their own risk can only be described as extreme!  I would like to thank Vice President Joe Biden for weighing in this matter for the Obama Administration.  At least is honest about the stance and tone of the administration which is more than I can say for most of the administrations reporters.

This governmental shutdown is nothing more than political posturing by BOTH parties at the expense of everyone living in this country!  Isn't it about time that "common sense" prevail.

Unfortunately . . . . That is not likely to happen anytime soon.

For someone who claims to get their new from multiple sources in 3 different languages you sure do like to quote the most tawdry sources like the Washington Examiner and the Drudge Report.

I can read English which means I can read the Economist that means I probably know more about Burmese and Thai politics than you think.

My observation was the implication that you can read 3 languages, which I have no reason to doubt, and claim you get news from multiple sources I would expect to see quotes from more reputable sources than bottom feeders like the Drudge report and the Washington Examiner.

A friendly suggestion. if you use the Chrome browser from Google, it will auto spell check your text as you type. Very helpful at times

chopped up.

The point of my message is the WWII debt satisfaction date depends upon how one values life.  It is apparent that many value it very little.
