recent oil price action has far more to do with shitty GDP #'s, employment #'s, end of QE2 (currency debasement) than OBL being dead.

for a real treat look at ZSL. precious metals will remain soft until the current budget debate reveals everyone is still hooked on borrowing.....

oh yeah, and fuck the europeans and maher.

As the White House story unravels it is becoming more and more clear that there was no fire fight.  We went in ignoring Pakistan's sovereignty with the intention of killing Osama on sight. They weren't interested in taking prisoners so they put two in Osama's head.  They probably kicked him in the balls after he was dead.   And I say "Fuck Yea" to all of it.

But the European "intellectuals" are now turning and asking the moral/ethical questions on if we did the right thing and pouring on their bullshit moral relativism nd hypotheticals.  This of course means the Bill Mahr panel will quickly follow and America will once again be cast as the villain.  Everything back to normal.

Yeah, I'm sure there are a few people in Europe who are upset, but I also believe most of them are happy as hell.  Like Brits who remember the bombings there and Spaniards who recall the train bombings in Madrid.  Europe has an even bigger problem with Islamic radicalism than we do.  I think the article  is crap journalism; someone taking  the comments of a few "outliers" and trying to make it sound like a trend.  I'm not buyin' it.
PS:  I will be happy to take anyone's bet that Bill Maher will be happy as hell OBL is dead.

...I would think we would have a pretty good case under international law that what we did was legal. It would be a hell of a lot more legal than what Bush did at Gitmo or in Haiti.

I'm no lawyer, and mari and phil know this, but my understanding is that under international law, any nation has the right to strike in defense. 9/11 had already happened, the whole world knew bin Laden was behind it, and we struck in self defense.

To me it sounds like an open and shut case.

International law specifically allows any "nation" who is in a state of war whether declared or not, to capture or kill an enemy combatant.

US law including the executive orders beginning with Reagan and those who followed him as POTUS allows the targeted killing of an enemy combatant.

I honestly get a bad taste whenever I see someone argue that what "Bush" did relative to Gitmo and interrogation was "illegal".  Folks much smarter than me regarding the "law" will debate and never agree.  But in the end, I personally don't give a damn whether it's really legal or illegal... The SOBs attacked our country, killed many thousands of people all over the world, and if a simulated drowning results in locating the perps, then dammit, that's exactly what I'm gonna do.  Law be damned...

If the US did not exist Europe would be the "Great Satan". Now if they only had the stones to fight the wars that they've started.

None of this shit is new, Europeans (Christians) have been fighting the ME (Islam) for millenia. Neither side has the high moral ground, but Christians are the lesser of the evils IMO. I wish simply wiping a few of these places off the map was an option. I mean except for the loss of life, would the world really miss Afganistan or Pakistan?

I know, it's only wishful thinking, but a man can dream, can't he? lol
