Way to side step the issue
Democrats blocked the regulation via filibuster, saying it would unfairly affect low-income families getting subprime loans.

Bush and the Republicans tried to tighten regulation on Fannie/Freddie in 2003.
Barney Frank the man lover :0 is responsible for a lot of the situation.
