Playing the "good cop" in your interrogation of Phil are we?Or is that angel on his shoulder as opposed to the devil on his other side? lol

Who knows but things aren't what they always seem to be with ANY public figure,no matter how good they come off especially with their family. He might of raised him well but he went his own way for whatever reason. That reason we'll never know or how well he was raised.

It sounds to me like he's saying we should all commit suicide and get to Heaven as soon as we can so God's Will can be done rather than wait around here on Earth where God's Will is rarely done.

Well, not for me of course, but he is welcome to go "home" anytime he'd like to, the sooner the better IMO.

What ironic is how Christians mock the Muslims for their whole 73 virgins in paradise crap, is this really that much different?

BTW I limit my mocking of religion mainly to Christians and Muslims. The Jews, Hindus, Buddhists et al  seem to be quite able to leave the rest of us alone, now if only the Christians and Muslims could learn to do that, the world would be a better place.

us, mrgoodists too. We don't bother anybody. I'm not sure if i'm the only member as of right now. Or if other members of TER have converted. But like any other religion, in a few hundred years it will be a major religion.
Then in a 2000 years and beyond it will still be there.

...that good, people will come to you and you don't have to badger them and bring "The Word" to them.  I see Honda commercials 20 times a day but I've never seen a Rolls Royce commercial.

Not to mention that Christians and Muslims have a history of trying to convert people by force.

And don't get me started on Scientology...

But the Ba'hai faith and Jainism seem pretty cool.

Those people are seriously whacked, I have lived in both Clearwater Florida and Hollywood California, their two major stronghold and I can attest those people are downright scary and actually quite dangerous.

and yes, some of those other faith seem kind of cool, equally as silly, but much cooler than the major religions.

How about the Jehovah's Witnesses?I had a couple of those goofs bang on my door last year with me intentionally NOT answering while leaving behind a trash litter of religious pamphlets to throw away. Not surprisingly, eccentrics like Prince and a few members of the Jackson family are members which only reinforces the kookiness of who they are just as Tom Cruise does for Scientology.

...Witnesses.  Tom Cruise CHOSE to become a Scientologist as an adult while married to Mimi Rogers.  Of course, if she waved those tits in my face, I'd probably be in the Sea Org right now.

I think Jermaine converted to Islam(changed his name to Jack-sun. lol)Michael before he died was flirting with the idea and Janet is marrying a billionaire Muslim. The rest of the family are still Jehovah's Witnesses,if nominal ones.

as soon as possible which ever way they can.

Please follow through, there is place in heaven for you and leave rest of us sinners to sin away.

Christians do not claim to know God's will.  They pray that it be done, but that is it.

While it is arguable from that theological stand point that it was God's will for that person to commit suicide, it is not logical to assume that God wants us all to do so.

(In a related vein, many Orthodox Jews, also not claiming to know God's will and accepting the fact that he is all-powerful, accept the Holocaust as part of "God's will," although none would seek for a replay.)

The same prayer is often said at funerals after car crashes and other tragedies, but in all those years no Christian has ever said that God wants us all to die that way.

It is funny that you as a non-Christian give that prayer a meaning that no Christian has ever given it.

You sure claim to know a lot about how they think.

and do you REALLY want to use logic where it comes to matters of faith?

Your words,

"While it is arguable from that theological stand point that it was God's will for that person to commit suicide, it is not logical to assume that God wants us all to do so."

Come on Phil, i like you, but isn't it a bit disingenuous to use "logic" to debate a subject who's very essence flies in the face of logic?

and aren't you also guilty of speaking in absolutes "ala Daffy" when you make the statement,

"but in all those years no Christian has ever said that God wants us all to die that way."

Come on Phil, just fess up and admit that down deep you are really a Christian, your claims that you are not a Christian hold no more water than Mattgina's claims that he is an independent. I mean NO ONE could possibly be as big an apologist for Christians without actually being one. We won't think any less of you if you admit it. Come on Phil, fess up. Admit that you are actually a Christian, The alternative is much, much worse.

Playing the "good cop" in your interrogation of Phil are we?Or is that angel on his shoulder as opposed to the devil on his other side? lol

Ya' mean they changed THAT dogma too?

Geee’z; Burgers on Friday, Straight preists, Jack Mormons, a BLT after Temple?

"The End" must CERTAINLY be near. :

than anyone else's death. And, I've known Ric Warren, and I've never known him to considered himself a big shot. I do know that if the shoe was on the other foot, he'd be treating you with far more compassion than what you are treating him now, no matter what your religious beliefs are. The sad fact is, there are those who cannot be cured of their depression by any means. It's a horrible, painful disease, and it leaves their family members tormented with doubts whether they could have done more to prevent it. It's a really sad day for a very good man, whether you agree or disagree with his beliefs regarding God.

Many believe that prayer has the power to heal.  Doesn't Rick Warren have to question why God would allow his son to suffer with his mental condition for so long?  Or does Rick chalk it up as just another cross that God wants him to bear?

He's going through a lot of pain right know, and I can imagine there are plenty of well intentioned people, who are telling him a lot of stupid stuff; some of it regarding God's purpose. That's why, those who have faith, and knowing the true meaning of faith, know they don't have answers; only faith.

It's a sin so they say.
Yeah, even if you're crazy. which brings me to another point:
the best docs and medicine money can buy couldn't save him...
what hope is there for people like me with no health insurance.

Let's just pray that the fire of hell don't burn him as hard as to the rest of the other sinners.
Or maybe he goes somewhere else like purgatory or something.

Are you posting this question in an effort to better understand their God or is it an attempt to criticize them or Him?

I am not, however if I were, I would place it on the later! But, I suspect you would also.   ;)

...to see if it would stick.  It may or may not reflect my views - I could just be playing Devil's advocate.

I am sure his father told him that if you commit suicide you go straight to hell. When one kills there self they are trying to act higher than God. He committed the ultimate act of disobedience.  Satan's angels are laughing that another soul is lost for every in eternity to the lake of fire.
