Republicans talk all about those all the time but when they get in office, they blow up the national debt. Are you like Trump and debt means nothing?

Cutting taxes is irresponsible when you’re 35 trillion in the shitter. Spending like we do is also irresponsible. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to tax this thing and that thing and then have to waste money on manpower making sure everyone complies. Seems to me we should keep shit simple with a simple income tax or a national sales tax or something. I don’t really like sales taxes because it’s regressive, but income taxes are fucked because you just get rich assholes bribing politicians to not pay them. I really liked how we used to do it with taxing imports (tariffs), this funded the entire US government until 1913 (and minus a short time during the Civil War). I don’t know if that would be workable today. What we really need to do is raise taxes (or raise revenue somehow) and cut spending.

Because I guarantee you if she wins and the Dems control Congress taxes will be raised on the rich -- meaning those who make more than $400K.

I was watching a documentary the other night on J Edgar Hoover. And what’s astonishing to me is just how corrupt the FBI was from the very start. Now I certainly want a government agency that can perfect the science of criminology. From fingerprints to DNA to building criminal profiles to tracking down serial killers, I want an agency that does this. But I don’t want an agency that can spy on people and then blackmail them. And I don’t know if it’s possible to habe one without the other. As bananas as it sounds I have way more respect for the decency of CIA agents than FBI agents. And all the intelligence spending we did after 9/11, that’s still going on even though terrorism is no longer the threat it once was.

Corruption is a sign of too much government spending. And shit has gotten corrupt beyond the point of malignancy into something else. It’s become a monster that threatens all of our liberties. I think we ought to consider cutting government spending by 75%. Even if it meant losing my job, we should still do it. I’d rather be out of a job and free than habe a job and not live in a free country anymore.

tax on unrealized gains, it will apply to everyone, the same way property taxes apply to everyone.  There is no way to isolate the tax to the rich the same way you can with brackets on income tax.  Income has nothing to do with asset value.  The same applies to retired people.  By making them pay a tax on unrealized gains, oldsters will reach a tipping point where they can no longer afford the annual unrealized gains tax.  As someone who is retired and owns substantial assets, YOU should be voting AGAINST Kamala to help keep this insidious asset grab from every happening.

This is correct. Those who earn over 400k annually typically have already highly taxed property or properties. And even more so in vacation destinations where that property tax is already high.
Our leading "know it all" top liar and this boards official one and only REAL political hack doesn't understand those things from the retirement village. He don't own substantial shit so Kamala is a great idea for him. Low income and retirees with little assets welcome a Democratic government. That's a fact!

Thanks to Proposition 13, my properties have low property taxes, especially compared to the income which has increased greatly over the years.

If those fucking conservatives on the Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade and other long-standing precedents, they could also overturn rent control as being a taking in violation of the Fifth Amendment.  Then I would take up smoking cigars just so I could light them with hundred dollar bills.  But those chickenshit, cocksucking motherfuckers refused to take up a case this past February.

Harris has NOT endorsed a tax on unrealized capital gains. She has endorsed the billionaire minimum income tax as a concept, but she hasn’t said much if anything specific about the tax on unrealized capital gains. So please stop lying about it.
And even if she DID endorse it, said tax would never happen. So stop trying to scare everybody with this boogeyman. It's the financial version of  Haitians eating pets.

You think that it's a positive for Kamala that policies she may endorse have no chance of being enacted?

You've seized on a hypothetical that has no basis in fact. The FACT is Harris has NOT endorsed said tax. You have no basis to say "she may endorse" it. That is total speculation with no factual basis.

Then this tax kicks in?
I doubt if there is anyone here who is in that bracket.
I read on this but it doesn’t affect me…. Yet
