The salient point about early voting is not dem vs rep, it's dem vs rep compared to 2020 and 2016.

In your ABC slide is it not true that the 2020 totals are for the entire early voting period while the 2024 totals are (obviously) to date.

We'll see if it "cannibalizes" election day voting.  One thing early voting helps is in areas where campaigns can get access to official voting records.  They can concentrate on getting people who haven't voted yet to go to the polls.  I think one of the GOP guys said that it cost them $12 per call to voters who haven't voted yet.  So the more early voting the more effective and cheaper the GOTV operation is.

That isnt the point. The key point is that after all those efforts, they are still getting crushed in the Great Lake states.

Early voting also reduces the negative effects of any weather issues that may occur on election day that could keep people from the polls.
