Bushie says we in an economic downturn and not a recession?

First, I am surprised that the idiot could even say "economic downturn" without sounding like the moron he really is, but are you really going to believe that we are not in a recession from a guy who earlier assured us that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction??

BTW, for all you right-winger nutjobbers out there, I am NOT a left-wing nutcase, but a common conservative taxpaying member of this fine society who truly believes what this current President & his Prince-Of-Darkness V.P. Chaney have done to this country is a damn shame.  We have lost our ideals, lost our standing in the world politic and even our ecomonic markets are in the shitter. This guy is worst than Carter!! I'll bet the great intellectual of our times, Mr. Buckley is turning in his grave already!

Mr. Prez's head is so far up his ass he's licking the back of his own tongue!
How is it that nobody can see that we're at the mercy of an international community that hates us and is engaged in a controlled financial blood-letting of the dollar?? The Euro is is climbing against the dollar because the rest of the world is pulling out of America as quickly as they can without triggering sudden death of the dollar!

Terms like "downturn" and "recession" assume there's an up-swing sometime in the future, but what would we leverage to cause our "value" to the world to return? We've whored out our industry, given away our technology advantages, looted our natural-resources, depleted our farm-land, mortaged our future for 3 generations, shackled ourselves with endless red-tape and fucked ourselves in our own asses by engaging our military in a neve ending police exersise that HAS broken morale and damaged recrutement!

Let's face it, were fucked, and the "Great Experment" has failed... It's time for uncle sam to file chapter 7 and let the trustee distribute our asses to our creditors... Maybe Bush can claim a residence-exemption on the White House?

Mark my words, we WON'T bounce back from this one...

You are overly pessemistic about the economic situation which is surely bad, but we can recover from that quite easily. What we will not recover from is the disaster we are  plunging headlong into and that is the final surrender of the people to the government. We don't any more beans and burgers, we want lobster, so when "change" is dangled we are reach for the new menu, however, it only has one item, a shit sandwich. America is about to go the way of the dodo bird.

Me, I am nowhere near as pessimistic. The rest of the world is not ganging up on us, they're just looking out for their best interest too.

A weak dollar is not the end of the world, it wasn't that long ago that we were complaining the dollar was too strong and thus hurting exports. One beneficial side effect of a weak dollar is reducing our trade gap.

We still feed ourselves and much of the rest of the world, and we are still a superpower. Say what you will about our military industrial complex, our shit works, and I don't see world peace breaking out anytime soon.

Mark MY words, we will bounce back.

One caveat to my above opinion, we won't be number one forever, the Chinese will be number one in the not too distant future, but not just yet.

Name calling is so childish.  Do you really feel like a man afterwards?  Well, how about thinking like one for a change?? Guess not.

The last true conservative, and one with intellegence, was the late William F. Buckley (RIP).  There was a man who could set forth his viewpoint without resorting to calling people names. The rest of you people, especially you Jack, are nothing more than Rush Limbaugh wanna-bes and a very poor attemot at that too I might add.

In Bushie/Chaney's zeal to rush off to the Iraq War, the idiots in the White House have bargained away this country's future.  This country is so saddled with debt due to the trangressions of the Moron from Crawford, Texas, and his minnions.

Those wonderful "rebates" we are suppose to be getting, well they will only go to benefit the China, whose purchase of Tresurey Bonds allows the debt to increase unabbatted.

I predict that the once almighty dollar is going to fall even further. It will be two dollars to every Euro. Gas prices will top $4, if not $5 by summertime and the economy will just get worse. We are no longer the Greatest Superpower. No, we are Modern Rome.

Reagan's record debt.  Even a Hopeful Idiot like Obama can retire Bush's debt, as soon as they stop the record welfare spending.

I mean, all he has to do is sit back and wait, as long as we don't have a President always thinking about ways to destroy America, we'll be OK.

large part, supported by consumer confidence.  The more the confidence is eroded, the weaker the economy becomes.  The naysayers and chicken littles in today's media inspired society are helping to drive the economy down further and further with every negative spin they put on it.  Thus, a self fulfilling doom is unleashed and perpetuated.

For what ends?  The money is the same, it just changes hands during downturns and upswings.  Who benefits from the current initiation of the self fulfilling prophecy?  Those who can buy what needs to be sold are the benefactors.  Are they countries, entities, or individuals.  Yes, all three.  And why should they not benefit?

Does this mean that there is some conspiracy out there?  No.  It just means that the pendulum has help when it swings. Particularly when the benefactors can take advantage of partisan politics during election years and have the vociferous blind party hacks help them push the pendulum.

My 2 Cents

When the enemy of Iraq saw all the libs in Congress protesting and the code pinkos running rampant on the news it gave the insurgents "hope" and they simply stepped up their attacks.

In fact it was so convincing that I am changing my position on the fact that Bushie Boy is a f'ing moron,...NOT!!  All you really proved was how much of a dolt you are too!!

Here's a news clip for you, BK:
"Commerce Department reported that the gross domestic product, the broadest gauge of the nation's output of goods and services, grew at a weak 0.63% rate in the fourth quarter of last year. Economists had hoped that the GDP number, which the government had estimated at 0.6%, would be revised substantially upward." (See Link)

I know what is the technical definition of "recession." It clearly appears that we are headed for one too based on the GDP information.

But don't worry, Billie K-Boy!  I am sure some town other than Crawford, Texas would welcome you with open arms as their village idiot. If not, then perhaps you can get a job as a Greeter at your local WalMart after you get laid-off due to Bushie Boy's economic policies.

You truly are just too stupid to realize you have been had!!! TFF!! LMFAO!!!

Please get a real life because the sorry little sorrid life you have been renting isn't working out for you anymore. I am sure that if your mother has seen what you have become, then she would become "pro-choice."

are, whatever we say they are. In Libb-inomics, economies can actually be "in recession" while they are growing, like our current economy.

Just because the economy is actually slowing, we must'nt call it that, that would be accurate and speaking English....

going to dominate or last long.

Most countries are their own worst enemies, and that goes for both the USA and PRC.  We are coming down off the Republican redneck binge, and we don't know how deep we'll go, or what will replace it.

The big thing the USA has going for it, compared to most countries, is that it doesn't have the baggage of history, and it has a lot of resources.  IMHO, we need to commit to intelligent use, that is, forget religions of any kind, and that includes a hell of a lot of economists.  It's easy to spot the conventional clergy, it's not so easy to spot them when they are masquerading as scientists.

The US has a better history and method for getting people to work together than any other country, and while authoritarian Chinese methods may eventually dominate a unified world, American methods will dominate anything that has to be negotiated.

Politics can leave a long trail.  There are Italian towns where the land use policies have been stable since the Roman times.  I don't think the Chinese will ditch their feudal political culture in the foreseeable future, and I think it will weigh them down.

Whereas, all the US has to do is stop electing snake charmers.
