Well, that sounds more appealing and effective than the libbie pinks' philosophy that a "limp wrist and a quivering knee is a substitute for courage and thought."
Congratulations George Bush - You will go down in history as the man who ruined America.
Think about this folks, we are spending 2 Billion $$$$$ a day in Iraq. Money wasted in Iraq could have been spent on infrastructure improvements such as schools, roads, healthcare, homeland safety etc.
There is an option. You could get a job and support yourself in the style you desire. Just because the government has its hand up to its shoulder in my pockets doesn't mean that you get every penny that is extracted. I propose that you stick your hands in the pockets of the filthy rich who have been cheerleading your theft from me and my neighbors, eg. George Soreass, Ted "Fat Bastard" Kennedy, John "Ketchup" Kerry, John "Hairdo" Edwards, Nancy "Fat Ass" Pelosi, Hillary "HildaBeast" Clinton, Willie "The Slickmeister" Clinton, etc., etc.
you could go there and invite one of the families into your home till they get back on their feet.
Nothing is stopping you from doing that but apathy
so much easier to point to someone else, or blame "the gubbermunt" that to actually do something about it, huh?
Oh yeah, that's right, YOUR contribution is "getting the word out" on hooker P&R boards....
See, This is the thing about Libs....the way they see it, their job is to see every injustice, CARE ABOUT IT, point out who's to blame and how gubbermunt can fix it w/OPM, then move on the the next righteous endeavor....
This is nothing new, and not much has changed since I was involved in the field, I could always find people who CARED, I just could'nt find many people who would HELP.
Your experience with the self righteous, pompous, hypocrits is similar to mine. "Nothing is impossible as long as someone else has to do it". Maybe if SaltyBalls put turpentine on his balls rather than salt it would jump start him into doing something constructive and he could move something other than just his jaws and his rectum.
An interesting fact about white people is that they firmly believe that all of the world’s problems can be solved through “awareness.” Meaning the process of making other people aware of problems, and then magically someone else like the government will fix it.
This belief allows them to feel that sweet self-satisfaction without actually having to solve anything or face any difficult challenges. Because, the only challenge of raising awareness is people not being aware. In a worst case scenario, if you fail someone doesn’t know about the problem. End of story.
What makes this even more appealing for white people is that you can raise “awareness” through expensive dinners, parties, marathons, selling t-shirts, fashion shows, concerts, eating at restaurants and bracelets. In other words, white people just have to keep doing stuff they like, EXCEPT now they can feel better about making a difference.
Raising awareness is also awesome because once you raise awareness to an acceptable, aribtrary level, you can just back off and say “Bam! did my part. Now it’s your turn. Fix it.”
So to summarize - you get all the benefits of helping (self satisfaction, telling other people) but no need for difficult decisions or the ensuing criticism (how do you criticize awareness?). Once again, white people find a way to score that sweet double victory.
Popular things to be aware of: The Environment, Diseases like Cancer and AIDS, Africa, Poverty, Anorexia, Homophobia, Midde School Field Hockey/Lacrosse teams, Drug Rehab, and political prisoners.
