Because single people shoild not be discriminated against, and SP should be recognized and treated fairly under Federal tax laws. I wonder if either side Democrat or Republican, will take up this issue?
We have a progressive tax code along with preferences to promote the societal value of famlies. Denying gays and lesbians equal protection under the law has nothing to do with your question. Gays and lesbians are specifically and systematically discriminated against for nothing other than their sexual preference. This type of discrimination is no different than the prohibition of interracial marriage.

I only added the gay marriage portion to my question, as a mile stone of progression. That really wasn't the objective of my inquriy, so I should have included traditional marriege as well.
