Yep Obama will not want to bring up 100 years with MAC .MAC might throw it back and say tell us about your 20 years learning from a racist preacher that expoused anti American rhetoric
Obama whose pastor is not angry like Obama said today but damn hates whitey will see his Best Anti American I hate Whitey racial rants played over and over. Lee Atwater funtime ,,by the time NOV comes all will think of his racist preacher
Obama wishes us to believe that he will be the president for all Americans... and I wish that were so. and I did like his speech, but would it convince me to vote for him? That is the question.
There was no real challenge (except the challenge of how you will pay for a loaf of bread if he gets the taxes through).
There was no real challenge for the war in Iraq... except for the unsettling concern that IF he is elected - we will unconditionally pull out... and while I may agree that we should not have been there in the first place... Pulling out, will leave a power vacuum in the region for Iran to fill... and unfortunately George Jr. failed to realize what Pappy Bush and Clinton did understand... Sadam was a safety valve...
There was no real challenge unless you are incredibly wealthy with all your money in Euros... or yen... our economy is a mess... I failed to hear the plan... oh that is right.... raise taxes...
Our educational system is straining to keep up with the rest of the world... but he offers unions... and no real plan for practical educational solutions... and least we forget... we're also going to educate all illegals... so that our corporations can export jobs more efficiently.... wow, what a plan!
our Seniors are poorly equiped for retirement... so what is his plan for SS??? and ever increasing burden on a shrinking work force... with (you guessed it) more taxes...
health care? we will house cloth feed and ensure the health of all - all including illegal immigrants... with no increase in cost... because we will pay for this with.... (altogether now) increasing taxes...
finally - the scariest of all.... policing the world to make it safe for freedom...
From an Obama - April 23, 2007 - a speech that is on his web site... I fear that he will commit us far more than crazy George has... and that is why the man truly scares me... Read his words below... for while he calls for us to be active policemen of the world... he fails to outline HOW! (Oh yea... we can increase taxes... I keep forgetting that).... for my part... a little isolationism might not be a bad thing.
"the security of the American people is inextricably linked to the security of all people. When narco-trafficking and corruption threaten democracy in Latin America, it’s America’s problem too. When poor villagers in Indonesia have no choice but to send chickens to market infected with avian flu, it cannot be seen as a distant concern. When religious schools in Pakistan teach hatred to young children, our children are threatened as well.
Whether it’s global terrorism or pandemic disease, dramatic climate change or the proliferation of weapons of mass annihilation, the threats we face at the dawn of the 21st century can no longer be contained by borders and boundaries.....
In 2002, I stated my opposition to the war in Iraq, not only because it was an unnecessary diversion from the struggle against the terrorists who attacked us on September 11th, but also because it was based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the threats that 9/11 brought to light. I believed then, and believe now, that it was based on old ideologies and outdated strategies – a determination to fight a 21st century struggle with a 20th century mindset.....
many Americans may find it tempting to turn inward, and cede our claim of leadership in world affairs.
I insist, however, that such an abandonment of our leadership is a mistake we must not make. America cannot meet the threats of this century alone, but the world cannot meet them without America. We must neither retreat from the world nor try to bully it into submission – we must lead the world, by deed and example.
We must lead by building a 21st century military to ensure the security of our people and advance the security of all people. We must lead by marshalling a global effort to stop the spread of the world’s most dangerous weapons. We must lead by building and strengthening the partnerships and alliances necessary to meet our common challenges and defeat our common threats."
of course excepting the others.
Write in Spitzer. Or maybe his replacement, the guy with the open marriage thingy.
I dunno, i've always been Obama-skeptical and continue to be so, but the absence of specifics in this here speech ain't no more damning than the absence of specifics in any comparable speech by candidate or President Reagan.
It may be all self-serving bullshit, it may be a tissue of lies capable of deceiving only those who wanted to be deceived, it may never satisfy his critics or put anuy of their doubts to rest, but I think Senator Obama hit this out out of the ballpark tonite. I look forward to the hostile analyses of this one.
Obama for attempting to reconcile the decisive issue of race. I applaud his efforts. To me though the more I hear Sen. Obama speak the more I sense how empty he is. The more he sounds the same. Yes, he is a skillful orator but no where in his actions do I see a candidate who I can salute as a Commander-in-Chief.
I know many people such as Ben Dover et al discount military experience. Then again swearing before God to protect and preserve the United States Constitution against all enemies does show your resolve in service to our country. It shows your trust in our country. It shows your love. It shows what you stand for.
In your eloquent post BSD, you allude to what does Sen. Obama stand for? Does he stand up for the US Constitution? Does he stand up for America? and the flag? Does he instead stand up for Rev. Wright? Where does he stand on universal health care and SSN? Does he stand up for the right to bear arms? Does he stand up for reducing litigation? How does he stand up for seniors? He may say he stands up for God but to me he sounds opportunistic.
How does he stand up against Jihadists? and that is a big question for me.
In my anecedotal story when I swore I would protect this country I had to make the decision I was willing to stand and bear arms against all foreign countries even if it was against a country of my ancestry. It is a decision our Italian, Japanese and German brothers had to make as well. My family loves this country, I love this country so my decision to serve was easy.
In regards to OBama. I wonder if Osama Bin Laden should take refuge in Kenya or Sudan, or Indonesia would he be willing to bear arms against those countries i.e. protect America against all enemies. With Sen Clinton I do not wonder. With Obama I do wonder about his resolve.
As they say in Missouri, Show me Obama, your tough enough and patriotic enough to lead this country. Say what you will about Bush. Give him credit, we have not been attacked since 9-11-2001.

If you think that those are legitimate questions then you should be asking even more serious questions about McCain. After all, unlike Senator Obama, Senator McCain's ancestors have taken up arms against the United States with the Confederacy during the Civil War.
I don't want a President who stands up for God because that has nothing to do with this country. I do, however, want a President who will --unlike Bush -- obey his oath of office and preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
BTW, you seem to have a short memory with the claim that we have been attacked with Bush in office. Does September 11, 2001 ring a bell? That attack came on Bush's watch.
but in the end you are nothing more that the sum of your actions." Those are the illustrious words of a famous athiest, John Paul Satre. In the sum of Senator Obama's actions I do not see a patriot nor a man who is tough enough to make the tough decisions.
Show me he is tough and a patriot and I might come closer to understanding your opinion.
I did not mention Sen. McCain but since you asked, I have no question about Sen. McCain's character to protect and preserve the US Constitution nor his top priority as President which is Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces.
...by the way we are no longer gray or blue so put away your rifled musket the Civil War is over, please inform the Reverend Wright.

So yanno, I can't help but wonder, where in the hell does a man who has spent the last 20 years being mentored and spiritually guided by a bigot come off lecturing us about unity and race issues?
If we want a leader who is going to improve race relations in this country, we certainly aren't going to find one among the congregants of Rev (term used loosely) Wright's church.
Pat Buchanon is dead on the money Wright is just like David Dukeand I say probably worse in that Duke was never anti - American just a racist . And Barack right great chararcter just throws his white grandmother under the bus ! Barack contradicts himself saying he would have confronted the racist pastor he could not because he is afraid of losing the black vote.
Yep Obama will not want to bring up 100 years with MAC .MAC might throw it back and say tell us about your 20 years learning from a racist preacher that expoused anti American rhetoric
Interesting polls about how Wright has affected Obama .
A new CBS News poll finds that while most voters who have heard at least something about controversial statements made by Barack Obama's longtime pastor say their view of the Democratic presidential candidate is unchanged, a third say it has made them feel more negative about Obama.
Democrats are especially apt to say their views are unchanged, with 76 percent saying it has made no difference of their view of Obama, 15 percent saying it made their view less favorable and 2 percent saying it made their view more favorable.
Republicans are the most likely to say their view has been affected: 47 percent say they've become less favorable, and 53 percent said it did not make a different.
Sixty-one percent of independent voters say they are unaffected, but 36 percent said it made their view less favorable. Two percent of independents said it made them more favorable view.

Ouch 36 percent among independents .
