They replaced the 5 Star Generals with 4 Star. Those new replacement weren't DEI hires...lol..yeah tell me about it.
American military history. The last living 5-star general was Omar Bradley, who died in 1981. There were nine 5-star general officers (some were Fleet Admirals, the Navy equivalent), all originally promoted during WW II. None of the 5-star generals were DEI hires, they were all promoted on merit.

It is for political gain just to make one side or the other look bad. This started way back during the Bush years. It just has been more prevalent these past years. It is straight shit. In 2011, Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling (Ret. 37 years) was the Commanding General of United States Army Europe and the Seventh Army. Every Saturday, there was a SECURE WORLDWIDE VIDEO TELECONFERENCE (VTC). This was before Zoom or Snapchat was invented. Every commander had a secure VTC. They had a three hour meeting all over the world with officers tuning in from time zones all over the world, no matter what time it was.
