"Governor Wanker" gonna find he's opened Pandora's box when he fucked with the unions. Even police union, which is exempt, is joining in !
What a moron ! Solidarity forever!----LMFAO !---;)

Stript Unions, Workers and Middle Class all of their rights, lower wages to the level of Chinese workers, do away with worker safety. This will eliminate business from exporting manufacturing to China and others.

This is the plan Koch brothers wants to put in place and the GOP is going along with it.

It is all for job creation, don't you get it.

Sure there may be a nutcase or two that will use this issue as an excuse to terrorize.  I really don't think there is a scary liberal left.  The 60s crowd became Yuppies and now are Senior Citizens.  Organized Crime does not have as much power anymore, because unions are such a small percentage.  Communism is cute now.  Worse case scenario, they are spoiled and they will have a temper tantrum.  Let them vent and then they will lay down on their blankets and have a nice nap.  My advice to them is go have a scone and no-faom vanilla latte.  All better.

Complaining about death threats is something Democrats do.  Very unbecoming for a Republican.

BTW, don't give a crap if you believe this or not...

I have 3 college degrees, clear over 200K a year and am liquid!! I have planned for the eventuality that jobs come and go, and have investments to carry me through (yeah, I know, makes me an evil capitalist).

Here is the thing though, I don't think I am anything special. I come from a poor background, paid my way though school, and chose a career I knew would lead me to a good lifestyle (i.e. did not major in Modern Art studies).

ANYONE CAN DO THIS!! Most people just are not willing to make the effort. And the more they whine about the middle class or how they need a union to get by, the more lazy I am convinced they are.

The reason I do not have to worry about what could happen to the middle class is because I CHOSE NOT TO BE MIDDLE CLASS!!!

I don't mind the middle class? My yard guy is middle class, my pool guy is middle class, the lady who cleans my house once a week is middle class!! They are all GREAT PEOPLE!!!

But if they ever started bitching and moaning about being middle class, I WOULD TELL THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT....

Except to the Obama administration of course.

Sorry Snow, but Charlie's right, you clearly stated that you chose not to be part of the middle class. You could make closer to $200K a month instead of a year and still be far from "upper class".  I think anyone that isn't making well into the mid seven digits a year has any reason to believe they have escaped middle class status.

I will agree that anyone can make something out of themselves in this country with a little hard work and discipline. I have managed to do so without a college degree and very little "discipline" I do confess to working as hard as necessary to accomplish my goals, and not relying on "someone else" to create opportunities for me.

We are all masters of our own destiies, or at least we should be. The WW's of this country with their sense of entitlement are exactly what wrong with this country today.

I also have to admit that as much as I disagree with Charlie's politics, I would be willing to bet that even though he doesn't agree with our captalist system, he is smart enough to play by the rules of the game and can argue as someone who has played the game and done well, as opposed to losers who blame other people for their failures. He's still a fucking commie, but somehow I doubt that he is destitute, and I am willing to bet that he outearns Willie, and probably you, by a wide margin. I don't know this for a fact, but Charlie has made several thousand posts here, and there have been a few that lead me to this conclusion.

and maybe two and a half million a year will put you at the lower end of the "upper class", but just barely. Two hundred grand a year is definitely middle class, and upper class is more a measure of wealth than income.

As JohnGalt put it, there are many people that make several hundred grand a year that would not be able to mantain their lifestyle if there income was interupted for more than just a few months. Those people are definitely not "upper class" or anywhere near what Charlie likes to call the "capitalist class"

I have already made over $200K this year and I have no delusions about being anywhere near upper class yet. I do plan on getting there someday, but I am not wealthy

Again, income alone doesn't qualify one for upper class standing, upper class is much more a factor of wealth than it is income. As Chris Rock joked. Shaq might make 100 million a year, which makes him rich, but the man who writes Shaq's paycheck, now that man is "wealthy". Quite a true statement.

My post was mainly directed at Snow who claimed at $200k a year he had elevated himself out of the middle class, I agree with Charlie that he isn't even close yet.

The "upper class" or "capitalist class" as Charlie likes to call it will always find a way to beat the system. That's what idiots like Willy always fail to realize.

Earned income is treated much differently that capital gains, almost all passive income, and many types of investment income that only the "rich" can take advantage of.

I am far from rich, but even I can take advantage of the tax laws that allow my to convert almost all of my earnned income into long term capital gains thus saving me thirty cents on every dollar I make.

As for the rest of your post, I definitely agree with you. Even the lower end of the middle class is going to find their rates going higher and higher. Reagan was the only POTUS in recent memory to change that and put thousands of previously untaxed "rich" people back on the tax rolls, but since he was a Republican, lefties like WW claim he lowered taxes on the rich. Just how the fuck can you lower taxes on people who pay nothing? lol Just goes to prove hwo truly clueless WW and his ilk are

however if you have managed to accumulate an eight digit net worth through those years of seven figure income, that would put you comfortably out of middle class standing.

I will concede that definitions are rather subjective, just like Charlies "capitalist class" while I am definitely a captalist, I am by no means in the "capitalist class" nor do I ever expect to be,

Understand Charlie, I am not trying to brag, there are people who make in a day what I make in a year, just trying to make a point...

Your definition of middle class is really messed up. See the chart below....

BTW, Uncle Sam does not agree with you either. You should see all the exemptions I am not eligable for because of my income!! Check it out!!!

That 250K is a politicians talking point. When it really comes down to it, there are not enough mega-wealthy people to make up the government short fall and the politicians know it!! Remember when Clinton was in office and said he was going to rasie taxes on high income earners.  Later he gave this sad sack speech about how he tried but just could not make it work, and then raised taxes on anyone makeing over 37K!!!

I agree with you, ANYONE can get to 200K and get three college degress, THAT IS MY POINT. The other side to that is, then why do so many people NOT DO IT!!! Bottom line, not enough self-discipline and drive.

Instead, they take the UNION route...

In all fairness I think there is a lot of confusion at to who comprises the lower, middle and upper classes, and the poor, working and capitalist classes. There is a certain overlap, but I don't think there is a universal definition for most of them.

Bill Gates and the like obviously comprise one end of the spectrum and people on welfare and the working poor who make minimum wage are obviously on the other end, it's those of us in the middle that are harder to define.

One can make $200,000 a month and still be considered middle class?   Or, you need to make well into the seven figures (say, $4 million a year or so) to escape middle class status?  According to who? (I mean, besides you).  And what's it based on?  That kind of income will put you well within the top 1% or earnings in the country.

If a person makes what basically puts them in the top 3%, and is massively penalized by the tax code system and loses almost all deductions that others can receive because of their income level, HOW DO YOU THAT EQUATE TO MIDDLE CLASS  ???

It basically boils down to the famous quote below, only apply it to income levels. First the Supre Rich, but soon they will realize there is not enough there to support all teh social programs they want.

Then the 100K - 250K, soon they will realize there is not enough there to support all the social programs they want.

Then the 50K - 100K, soon they will realize there is not enough there to support all the social programs they want.

Remember, when the TAX system was first introduced, only the super rich were to pay it and it was 2%.

I just wish more people would pay attention to history!!!

I went back and checked and you did write that $200K a MONTH or mid-seven figures a year STILL would barely get you our of the middle class.  I never would have shot back if you'd really said $200K a YEAR was middle class.  I would mildly disagree, but wouldn't have posted about it.  So if your criterion is $200K a year we have no argument.  I'm retired now but made 7 figures at one point and was always north of $500K a year in total compensation.  I'd hate to think I never made it out of the middle class!
