In fact, it was down to 7.7% in Jan 2016, the month Trump took office. Looking at all of the data, unemployment appears to have continued to decrease at a constant rate.

One could ask:
(1) Why didn't Trump do something to increase the RATE of growth of black employment? Why isn't it down to 5% or 4%?
(2) What didn't Trump do to upset the apple cart and cause a decrease in the RATE of black employment? Why did it not shoot back up to 8% or 10%?

What, EXACTLY, did Trump do to achieve this 6.8% unemployment claim?
Of COURSE he would, so it stands to reason he would get at least SOME credit for having it to continue to fall.
It's a good sign, but too soon to tell, as most of Trump's pro-growth policies (tax cuts, deregulation, infrastructure, etc) hadn't gone into affect yet, so the 2018 & 2019 numbers will be much more telling.
And again, lets not get all caught up in the just the "number" of jobs as that is only one small part of the story. Any person who works just one hour per week at McDonalds is considered "employed." That was the problem with the Obama "recovery" as it lacked QUALITY jobs.
With manufacturing, and other higher paying industries hiring more and more, that should bring up wages and bring about more quality jobs over the longterm.
When the Infrastructure bill passes as I certainly think it will, blacks should benefit from that greatly.
Lots of great things on the horizon on the employment front for people of all colors but we shouldn't read too much into year one.

I also wanted to point out another statistical lie. The unemployment figures are converging towards some low number. (Pick a number for the lowest UE: 0%? 1%? 3%? Be historically realistic.) UE cannot go negative. If black UE reaches 2%, white UE cannot go 5 percentage points lower to -3%.

I also want to point out the "wobble" in the unemployment rates. If the next month's data show 7.0%, is that because of some enormous Trumpian failure? Or maybe it's a just a statistical fluctuation. December unemployment often goes down with temp hires and so on to handle the holiday rush. Unemployment then goes up in Jan as those temp jobs disappear.

I would like the OP to state, exactly, what Trump did to achieve the historically low black unemployment figure (that the data indicate). Which piece of legislation, executive order, etc. accounts for the drops of:
Jan 2016 8.8% black UE 4.3% white UE
down to
Dec 2018 6.8% black UE 3.7% white UE
AND, if that action was truly important and effective, why didn't that action achieve a greater effect?

I allowed unemployment for young black man. It was the first time ever that I didn't fight it when it was undeserved. This young man didn't deserve it either, but I didn't fight. It will take probably 2 years before unemployment catches up and goes up on my tax rate permanently. I felt really bad for him because she showed up everyday. There were just too many issues of small thief and I personally believed that there was something wrong with him mentally. I was never going to make a profit with him and my sales were dropping. So goodbye to him with separation letter and no fight at the unemployment office.

Also he was sued for Trump University fraud and he had to settle.
Trump also refused to pay people in the past, that did work for him.

and allowed this young black man to draw unemployment even though I had several reasons to fire him before I let him go. He said he hated police officers in front of one my customers at my BUSINESS that is LE. And he said it right in front of me and in his ear shot!!!! I should have fired him right then! Only a crazy person would do that! And that is why when I let him go that I decided to not fight him on the employment because I believed he is mentally challenged and unable to work, follow rules and should not ever work with the public. He was stealing from me, another reason to not get unemployment. But I did not fight him on his unemployment claim. The stress he caused me; I just wanted him gone! No, he did not deserve unemployment and I allowed him to have it for 5 wks or so. It is in my opinion that he is disabled.

I just had a really hard 2017 in small business. It was a horrible election year and a lot of crazies. My business had a loss for the first time since 2013. It was due to not being able to keep dependable help (laborers) The average pay $14 and I can make a profit. In the good times I always give cash bonuses.
I have started recruiting from a long term men's recovery house and it's working out really well so far. They are drugged screened every week, they will make sure they have a ride to and from work. And the deal is if they leave there before their commitment is up from fucking up; then the deals over.
