So many Dem pols trying to make this a Kimmel vs Trump/FCC story. The reality is that it was a market driven decision decision. Major ABC affiliated Nextar and Sinclair both told ABC they were dropping ratings tanking Kimmel. ABC then suspended Kimmel after he refused to apologize. The was a business decision, not a First Amendment decision. The same as an employee getting fired for telling his boss to fuck off.

It's not that ChicKie is wrong about Nextar and Sinclair, but he's ignoring what the head of the FCC said:
"We at the FCC are going to enforce the public interest obligation. If there’s broadcasters out there that don’t like it, they can turn their license in to the FCC. But that’s our job, and again we’re making some progress now.”
Nexstar is seeking FCC approval for a merger with Tegna, while Nexstar and Sinclair are asking the FCC to repeal a rule that limits any broadcasting company from reaching more than 39% of U.S. households."
If ChicKie doesn't think this is FCC coercion of companies which have major business before it, then he is either naive as hell OR ChicKie is a humongous partisan hack.

Your evidence is circumstantial at best. The current timeline shows us this was Kimmel versus the stations/network, and he refused to apologize. Then he was suspended.

It worsened existing divisions in the electorate. It created and INCREASED distrust in American elections, American jurisprudence, American law, and American norms for now and into the future. It PUSHED TRUMP'S insane notion that any news against Trump must be FAKE NEWS.

Most on the left but also MANY ON THE RIGHT were against the BLATANT lies being told by Fox and wanted it to stop ... somehow or other. Most of the outspoken Republicans were subsequently targeted by Trump and were forced out of government or politics. (I think Trump even accused Krebs of treason.)  If there was celebration, they were celebrating an end, or at least a diminution, of the BLATANT LIES being promoted by Fox. And Carlson wasn't taken off of Fox until AFTER Fox agreed to the $787 M settlement with Dominion. (Why wouldn't they stop the lies BEFORE the settlement, or even BEFORE the filing?)

- MAGA's were claiming that the shooter was a lefty, a trans lover, a lefty indoctrinated college student, ... ANYTHING but a MAGA ("one of them").  
- the same KIND of argument was used by Groyper: the shooter wasn't left of CK, the shooter was to the right of CK. CK wasn't righty enough, and that's why he was shot by an ultra-righty.

There was private, CIVIL action against Fox that DID expose the **conspiracy** to support Trump's attempt to overthrow the results of "the most secure [election] in American history."
