Pete Hegseth nomination in more trouble.

It turns out that, in addition to having paid a settlement for an alleged rape, Hegseth also allegedly mis-used funds at two of the veterans groups he ran AND was "repeatedly intoxicated" while acting in his official capacity.

The very conservative Koch Brothers, financial backers of the CVA, had CEO Hegseth fired.

1) Hegseth's colleagues at Fox have told reporters his drinking caused problems on the job.
2) There are now six Senators telling NBC they have doubts about being able to vote in favor of Hegseth's nomination.

This is what happens when you vet people incompetently. This guy knew he was out of his depth and withdrew.

People have many reasons for turning down job offers. This is not a new thing. Your very own link that you obviously failed to read said:
"Chronister cited ongoing work that's needed in serving the people of Hillsborough County "and a lot of initiatives I am committed to fulfilling."

There could have also been other family factors not mentioned. Only a true partisan hack like icky dick the TATL-tell would write "This guy knew he was out of his depth and withdrew." not knowing other details. But we expect no less from the leading liar of TER and the biggest BUT TRUMPer known to man.

He failed to read the key part of this guy's withdrawal statement, which said he quit because "the gravity of this very important responsibility set in,"
So he just wasn't up to it and at least he knew it.
The SPOAT, by contrast, has no clue he's just not up to posting here.
One can only conclude he is actually retarded.

I clearly read that. The point is, there could be many "other" reasons involved not mentioned as well. However a BUT TRUMP poster can't see the Forrest for the trees. So I'd expect nothing less from TATL the idiot.

Keep up.

Now Trump is posting that HE (Trump) withdrew Chronister from consideration.

Trump contradicts Chad Chronister; insists he ‘pulled’ him from DEA over pastor’s arrest [Dec 4 2024]

"Donald Trump is insisting that Chad Chronister didn’t withdraw as a candidate for head of the Drug Enforcement Agency, but rather that he himself “pulled” the nomination after learning the Hillsborough County sheriff arrested a pastor for violating the COVID lockdown in 2020. The episode would appear to validate complaints the president-elect hasn’t fully vetted his nominees. ...

"... The backlash from conservatives stemmed for his perceived, progressive stances. In 2018, Chronister became the first Hillsborough County Sheriff to join the Tampa Pride Parade and later launched the agency's LGBTQ Liaison program. The Wall Street Journal (highly conservative and owned by Murdoch) says Trump is considering replacing Hegseth with FL Gov. Ron DeSantis.
This is what happens when you're careless in checking out your nominees. It's very comforting to know Trump is just as incompetent as ever.

accepting.  He want's to be prez after governor, not in a Cabinet post.  If Trump does offer it, I think he's just trying to clear the field for J.D. Vance in 2028.

populist choice and really doesn't have the depth of experience in my opinion.  Combine this with his character flaws, and it's a tough sell to the Senate.

Are you trying to supplant ChicKenShit as our board's "most reasonable and intelligent poster?"

I'm intelligent all of the time, but only reasonable SOME of the time to most Dems.

We need folks like Robert Gates and Leon Panetta to lead such a vast, complex, vital organization.

Seriously, she does. Now that I’ve looked into this and I realize it’s all one big smear by the lame stream, go Pete GO! 🤷🏻‍♂️

His lawyer appeared on CNN and clarified that it wasn’t an NDA, it was a confidential settlement. He said they have grounds to sue her for breach of confidentiality.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal is accusing Pete Hegseth’s attorney, Timothy Parlatore, of witness intimidation because Parlatore suggested that Hegseth may sue the woman who accused him of sexual assault and received a settlement if he doesn’t get confirmed.
