Picture this:  You're a woman, laying naked on the bed...and just as this guy is about to stuff his dick in you, you suddenly realize it's one of these psychotic rightwing lunatics.  It sends chills up my spine.

we have money.

In addition the Republican is generally a straight guy and thus less likely to spread diseases. We are as a group also generally the ones who follow the credo of Duty, Honor and Country and women love a man who knows where he stands.

Now here is the irony, men love their women liberal, so we can do nasty and naughty things.

because that way they can be sure they can out think them.  They don't have to worry about him being a step ahead of them.  Strong back, weak mind.

Well, maybe.  He's also more likely to be that guy that goes in a bathroom and has anonymous male sex because he's afriad to admit he has "gay" thoughts.  I'm sure those guys that have sex in the bathroom, or via craigslist aren't the safest guys to mess around with.

After all, most conservatives think being gay is a choice, and you can't make an informed choice w/out going both ways once.  And any good conservative is not stupid enough to make an uninformed choice.  That would just be stupid.

-oops1888 reads

You may have just phrased your thought improperly, but the implication I see you trying to make is that most men having anonymous gay sex in bathrooms are Republicans. You can’t really think that, can you?

I believe BM was somewhat joking around but, I have to agree with BM here, but I would love to see some reliable research on this.

I personally believe:

1) Far more gays (including all, both open and closeted) are liberal than conservative, primarily because gay friendly politics trends heavily liberal (nearly exclusively liberal).

2) Far more openly/outed gays are liberal than conservative. Peer pressure works both ways (to force outing and to remain closeted).

3) Gays having anonymous sex are disproportionately more likely to be conservative than the general gay population as a whole is conservative. I am not saying that more closeted gays are conservative than liberal, simply that a greater percentage of liberal gays than conservative gays have outed themselves (or have been outed by others). Thus, conservative gays are more likely to have anonymous sex to help maintain their anonymity.

4) As far as the hobbyist population goes, I believe there are fewer bisexual men hobbying than in the general population.

5) There are fewer conservatives than liberals that hobby. This board may be a microcosm demonstrating same, but still, it follows from 1-3.

All in all, if a provider “bumps into” a gay or bisexual client, that client is more likely to be a liberal.

I might add one more thought. Virtually every "gay friendly" community I can think of, San Francisco, Hollywood,New york City,Key West, etc  tends to be not just liberal, but far left in their politcs

vietjoe1552 reads

While I agree with BM and yourself that a liberal is probably more likely to be gay, I wouldn't say a conservative is less likely to have a disease.

Obviously someone involved in the hobby is okay with somewheat risky behavior.  Granted, it may be less risky than just hooking up randomly, but that's probably debateable.

However, conservatives are more likely to engage in extremely risky behavior.  People like BM who think being gay is a choice, and openly don't approve it, are probably ashamed about their sexual desires and are more likely to lie to someone about their sexual contacts with other men.   Since it's more of a compulsion for them, they are more likely to engage in risky sex (like in public restrooms).

Yes, what I think is that people who think being gay is a choice, and that god thinks it's wrong, and are generally anti-gay are usually at that point because they're ashamed of their own desires in connection to their religious and/or ultra-conservative upbringing.  Although most will counter that they are just following the bible and their religious beliefs, it's too easy to discard of other sections of the bible when convenient to make me think that the "gay is wrong" thing is anything other than a sham.  Thinking it's gross is fine or not understanding the attraction is fine, it is gross, but when people argue it's wrong I get suspicious.

Interesting chain of reasoning. I think it has some merit, but there are too many steps in the chain for me to think that it happens except in a miniscule number of situations. It also requires the belief in the existence of a degree of mental defect (in the gay subject, not you) to complete the logic. This idea I'm sure will delight some on the left and confirm what other there are already thinking (they are the ones with a mental defect, j/k), but I believe that the vast majority of gays are rational and interested in self preservation, regardless of their political bent. You’re actually relating to their religious leaning, which many times is not disconnected from their political persuasion.

Again, gay sex in a public restroom would not be undertaken by mostly conservatives. But this would be primarily because the overwhelming numbers of gays are liberal. They’re having sex everywhere you know (j/k).

All very good points.  I probably have overgeneralized, and made it out to be more of a risk than it is.

We do not think you are evil, just wrong.

And it's you and your side that criticizes groups like the religious right for their supposed single minded stubbornness.

I agree with you except for the religious right portion, they have earned every bit of criticism that has ever been directed their way. Actually come to think of it, the religious right does believe that everyone that does not share their "faith" is  evil, including us(hobbyists)

-oops1819 reads

Actually, most have quite a different category they reserve as "evil". For example, even as much as they detest the Clintons, they do not categorize them as evil. Sure some do. There is a far far right "fringe" group, but the majority of conservative Christians are not dogmatic about many things.

I wasn't really trying to defend the RR. Many in the RR deserve criticism. I was actually trying to make more of a "pot and kettle" analogy.

Gore is bad for hobbying?  Just like some judge found 9 errors in Gore's movie?

Why don't you tell the truth, instead of distorting it?

Do you think fraud is evil?  It will make you much better to know that I only hate the sin, not the sinner, so we will only flog the lies out of you.

I said several things. It would help me if you explained what you believe I was lying about or distorting.

I just have a hard time dealing with people that tell me that if I don't worship "Their God" that I will spend the rest of eternity burning in hell, then have the audacity to tell me that I am intolerant....well it justs makes for a difficult conversation. Kind of like talking to one of the rabid Bush haters that resort to name calling at the drop of a hat.
