I have only boarded jets via the jetway (walk from lounge to jet door w/o any stairs) and by climbing into 2-seaters and 4-seaters from the tarmac. I have never used a mobile stairway to get from the tarmac up to the jet entrance door.

I have been lots of old and oddball buildings with different size risers and treads on their staircases. If the risers are a little taller or the treads a little wider than "normal," you can trip when rushing using your natural or muscle memory gait. Anybody know the standard measurements of mobile stairs? Is there more than one riser - tread standard for mobile stairs? Will they differ from airport to airport?

In their videos, both Pence and Biden were skipping or rushing up the stairs. Maybe that's why they both tripped. Trump doesn't run or skip or rush up the stairs. Trump uses the handrail and keeps his head down, looking at the steps. Pence and Biden should do the same.

Air Force One was the ONLY way to get on a plane back in the day, and they were specifically designed to make it easy for old people to use them.  The rise is shorter than on regular stairs in a building.

?? I don't think that the US sends a giant mobile stairway along with Air Force 1. What do they do, hang it off the back of the jet like a bicycle on a bike rack?  I think they use the mobile stairways provided by the airport or trusted airline companies. ARE ALL aircraft mobile stairways the same? I don't know.

But an unusual riser / tread combo -- which you say is the case for people boarding AF 1 -- can throw off your natural gait and cause you to trip.
