Because the people who own this country will thrive in that environment. Recessions further concentrate wealth (buying power) in the hands of the few, give greater power to the wealthy, and provide opportunities for business acquisitions at a vast markdown, to enhance longer term profits. The people who own this country don't care if you can pay your mortgage or retire anymore, because under the current economic model, ***they don't need you anymore to make money***.

I believe in

individual and civil liberties

the rule of law as administered by an independent
judiciary

markets regulated only for civilly responsible practices

private ownership of the means of production, with appropriate regulation with respect to
ethical standards of business

in the context of a democratic socialist
government

that manages public resources uniformly for the public good.
