Trying to tie the pedophile problem within the Catholic Church to homosexuality is totally wrong. And while I don't have the numbers handy to prove it (and certainly won't spend lots of time searching) I know that studies have shown that almost all of the guilty priests were likely not gay.
But Quad is right in his comment about gay men joining the priesthood to hide their preferences. It's not as common in today's world with homosexuality no longer as reviled as it once was, but back in the day many gay men did join the priesthood to avoid the stigma of not being married. I know of three (at least) that were in my local parishes and taught at my local Catholic schools. In fact, one of those three actually came out (this was in the 70s) and left the priesthood. He did this after his parent had died and he no longer had to hide his secret from them.

Perhaps I was very lucky in my youth, all the years I spent in boarding school until I was almost a teen, I never had a Priest solicit me for sex or attempt to play any sort of sex games with me.
The worst I ever received was occasional violent punishment which only made me stronger in the long run, instilling my life long belief, no benefits occur when cursing authority in my vicinity.
I did have a few experiences when I was young, before I was old enough to drive, hitch hiking, the driver
who picked me up would sometimes ask if I wanted to come home with him for something to eat.
No thank you I always replied, I'm at my destination, you can stop right here.
Were they harmless guys with suspicion I'd missed a meal ?
I'll never know for sure but I'll count my good fortunes as a gift, perhaps from God.

As for Jake, we disagree about almost everything, I guess maybe you should have tried to get through at least the tenth grade if you can't see that for yourself. The only point where we do agree is the fact that many gay men use religion as a beard, much like I believe Tim Tebow is doing as I posted above.
