Maybe try and talk policy. How is the DEM SHUT DOWN going.... you know the voted down paying federal employees, they are the ones voting down opening the government to provide SNAP benefits to people. They have admitted to HOLDING HOSTAGE the people to get what they want. They don't just want a "vote" on the subsidies or a talk/negotiation....they want everything they are demanding PASSED or a guaranteed Yes vote before they will open up the government....That isn't negotiation.
There is contradictions to what you posted. USDA is saying that the funding is used for only EMERGENCIES such as hurricanes, floods, etc. during a Gov shutdown.

It also told states they wouldn’t be reimbursed if they pay the benefits.
“SNAP contingency funds are only available to supplement regular monthly benefits when amounts have been appropriated for, but are insufficient to cover, benefits. The contingency fund is not available to support FY 2026 regular benefits, because the appropriation for regular benefits no longer exists,” the memo says.

Correct..... both contradict themselves.... that is the point I was making. You acted like it was written in stone when it actually isn't. It could be left up to debate and possibly the courts.
You are also leaving out that the USDA is stating that the fund isn't as full as Dem's are saying because some of that money is for WIC and other programs. NOT SNAP. So if SNAP takes that money it will leave others shorted.
The USDA is also saying that the FUNDS have been used in the past shutdowns.
So like I am saying..... they are all over the place. It isn't written in stone like you think it is. Because these funds are also earmarked for other programs and if SNAP takes another chunk it will leave those others shorted which this fund can't do. Since SNAP took from the fund in prior shutdowns. It is more complicated than anyone is letting on.
You also do know that SNAP needs something like $9.2B and that fund only has $6B....
- SNAP needs roughly $100B annually to stay funded.
So please tell me how that FUND will help SNAP....
