Sen. John McCain enjoys overwhelming support from the military’s professional core, a Military Times survey of nearly 4,300 readers, indicates, though career-oriented black service members strongly favored the Democratic Party candidate.

McCain, R-Ariz., handily defeated Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., 68 percent to 23 percent in a voluntary survey of 4,293 active-duty, National Guard and reserve subscribers and former subscribers to Army Times, Navy Times, Marine Corps Times and Air Force Times....

That's encouraging. I hope they ensure his victory too.  That way when he sends them off to die in pointless wars, they have no one else to blame.

A poll of subscribers to a magazine is a biased sample. Without a random sample, the poll itself means very little. You might surmise that subscribers to the Military Times tend to be pretty conservative to begin with. A poll of them seems moot.

"68 percent to 23 percent in a voluntary survey of 4,293 active-duty, National Guard and reserve subscribers..."

Their subscribers are/were all in the military (that's why it's called Military Times. duhh.). How can you randomize a sample poll in the military? By gender? By race? By how many times a week they do the hobby???

They all have one thing in common...and that's they are/were in the military.

and in law enforcement are Republican. Heck, before I joined the Army I had the illusion that Jimmy Carter was actually a good President. Yup, I was really naive.

In the Army it did not matter if you were white, Filipino, Asian, or Latino we were pretty much all conservative. I do not know if they were Republican or not because we are all wore the Red White and Blue. The African Americans I knew though they did not let their politics be known to me sure acted conservatively. For example, I learned a lot about money management from an African American officer. I still use his conservative principles.

NOw I did hang out with this one Army civilian babe and she introduced me to an underside of the Army I did not know existed. She was nasty. I don't know if she was Republican or not but who cares.

results of the Military Times 2008 Election Poll are not representative of the opinions of the military as a whole.

The group surveyed is older, more senior in rank and less ethnically diverse than the overall armed services.'

This excerpt stating that the results are NOT an indication of the military as a whole discredits tha idea that the troops are really backing McCain

You are worse that a simple liar when you take a small piece of truth and twist it into a false portrayal of fact. Shame on you.
