wouldn't support.

But like cks stated... would support.

But to CDL post..... he is correct this is another attempt by LIBERALS to stoke the "sky is falling" and TRUMP IS KING BULLSHIT.      By producing WHAT IF scenarios.     I would be more worried that extreme liberal groups would go out and try to interfere with this election.....ie: at voter registrations, voter polls, etc.    You know ANTIFA type.

It stands for Presidential Emergency Action Documents. And the author says Trump may well use them to nullify the 2026 election results. Now, before you accuse me and liberals for clutching our pearls on this, I am NOT asking you if you think it will happen. I have no idea if it will. The question is IF it does happen, will you support it?

Here's part of the column, cut and pasted from the Times because it's behind a paywall. TER's limits on post-length makes it impossible to post the entire column. WARNING: its still LONG:
"President Trump hates to lose.

Heading into the 2026 midterm elections, you can’t say that the president hasn’t warned us, over and over, that he will do all he can to prevent the congressional contests from turning into a humiliating Republican rout.

“It’s some deep psychological thing, but when you win the presidency, you don’t win the midterms,” Trump told Reuters in an interview at the beginning of the year. He claimed that his presidency had been so successful that “when you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election.”
The threat posed by Trump has rattled experts at the Brennan Center and Keep Our Republic, along with scholars who study Trump’s real and claimed powers.

Two of the foremost students of these powers are Joel McCleary, a founder of Keep Our Republic, and Elizabeth Goitein, senior director of the liberty and national security program at the Brennan Center. Some, but not all, of their attention has been focused on the secretive creation of presidential emergency action documents, which have come to be known as “PEADs.”

McCleary described his findings and his concerns in a series of emails, many including reports he has written. In an April 23 report, “Continuity of Government, Presidential Emergency Action Documents and the Evolution of Executive Emergency Powers,” McCleary wrote that the president “possesses emergency powers that are virtually unknown to the public, to most members of Congress and to much of the federal judiciary. These powers — codified in classified presidential emergency action documents” — allow

a single individual to suspend fundamental constitutional rights, detain civilians, seize property, impose martial law and censor communications.

They require only a presidential signature. No prior congressional approval is needed. No court reviews them before activation. No statutory mechanism exists for Congress to restrict or terminate these powers once invoked.
While PEADs were first created in the 1950s during the Eisenhower presidency to address the potential of nuclear war to create chaos, there is, McCleary wrote, “no statutory, constitutional or procedural limit on the number of PEADs a president may create, the subjects they may address or the scope of authority they may claim.”

The Brennan Center has published an article describing the history and potential use of PEADs.

I asked Goitein to explain the difference between a declaration of a national emergency and a PEAD. She replied by email:

A declaration of national emergency by the president unlocks statutory authorities contained in 137 different provisions of law. A presidential emergency action document (PEAD) is a draft executive order, directive or communication, prepared in anticipation of a particular type of emergency, that implements an emergency power or powers.

The emergency powers it implements can either be statutory powers or powers that are available to the president — or that the president claims are available — under the Constitution. These draft orders/directives/communications are often accompanied by legal analyses to justify the actions they would implement.
Are the constraints on the use of PEADs less than those on the use of declarations of national emergencies?

Goitein:

It depends. Some PEADs will actually involve a declaration of national emergency, in which case the primary constraint would be the same: Congress could vote on a resolution to terminate the national emergency declaration. This is a very weak constraint, as Congress would have to muster a veto-proof supermajority.
In addition to congressional action, Goitein continued:

the courts could also serve as a check. For either a national emergency declaration or an exercise of emergency authority pursuant to a PEAD, any person adversely affected could file a lawsuit to challenge the government’s actions if those actions appeared to violate the Constitution or a law passed by Congress.

While courts in both scenarios would likely be reluctant to second-guess the president’s determination that an emergency exists, they would be much less reticent in reviewing whether the actions taken in response to the emergency were authorized by law.
While the secretiveness of PEADs prompts suspicion among those wary of the Trump administration, the National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 I mentioned earlier is raising specific fears."

Chicken-Little moment where Democrats are again stoking fear among their largely disinterested voters during the 2026 election season?  The events that will determine this election have not yet happened, but I don't think this is one of them.  It made me laugh, though.   This election will hinge on the resolution of the Iran war, lower gas prices and continuing growth in the jobs market.  In fact, I think Trump might be slow-walking the finish of Iran to better time the gas price drop to the late summer in the lead-up to the election.  What will Dems have left to run on?  DEI?  Lol

How do you think the Job Market is doing right now?

higher than were expected, and many of the jobs created by the massive foreign investment brought in last year should be coming online throughout the rest of the year as construction projects come to fruition.  However, we still have too many young people that will not find summer jobs because much of the low-end jobs are currently held by illegals.  ICE has not started going after employers yet who hire illegals.  They are still working on known criminals.

420Smoka4Eva27 reads

Have you noticed that a lot of those job reposts get revised downward a month or two later? The revisions are significant. There are also tons of layoffs in the private and public sector. I don’t think the Job market is that great.
.
Also, I get the feeling the Trump administration is fudging the numbers in their jobs reports. There have been tons of corporate layoffs and revised estimates. The numbers don’t make sense given all this news. Plus, as someone still in the job market I can tell you anecdotally that it’s terrible. I think the Trump admin is fudging the numbers.

This "revision" has been happening for the past two terms (Biden and Trump).    Which I agree is bullshit.

Here is the question for people in the job market...... Are jobs available or are not the jobs you want not available?   What I mean is salary, benefits, type of work requirements, etc.    There is a difference.

420Smoka4Eva24 reads

In my personal experience, the job market was much better under Biden than it is under Trump. Ever since “Liberation Day” and the DOGe layoffs the job market has been weak. I have fewer recruiters reaching out to me. I have multiple colleagues that lost their jobs and struggled to find new ones, spending a lot of time unemployed. This is just anecdotal btw, take it for what you will.

of revisions during the Biden years especially.  When you factor in the revisions, it was a negative number most quarters if you deducted those just RETURNING to the jobs they were laid off from during covid.  Biden liked to include these numbers as "job creation", and not surprising, most low information Dem voters bought into it.  Fortunately, there were enough INFORMED Democrats to put Trump over the top in 2024.

To answer your question, I would not support a permanent nullification of the 2026 midterms. I might support some kind of PEAD concerning the elections if domestic terrorists tried to upend the elections.

Which brings us to NPSM-7, mentioned in the last paragraph that Nicky posted.

Key Aspects of NSPM-7 (2025):Target Scope: Targets organizations and networks deemed responsible for "organized political violence," such as "anti-fascist" actors, and groups with "extreme viewpoints on immigration, radical gender ideology, and anti-American sentiment".Investigative Focus: Directs the FBI and Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTFs) to use "all available investigative tools" to map networks and prosecute those responsible for crimes like rioting, looting, and "conspiracies to impede or assault law enforcement".Nonprofit Scrutiny: Authorizes investigations into the funding sources of these groups, including nonprofit organizations and their donors, with potential IRS involvement to scrutinize tax-exempt status.Constitutional Concerns: Critics, including the ACLU, warn the memo could be used to target political dissent and First Amendment-protected speech.

Man how do you cope with your life?.., “BUT ITS THE LIBERALS!!!”
Relax

So ANTIFA never terrorized federal/State buildings and offices.   Never protested and stopped people from doing daily activities, shut down roads illegally, took over town squares illegally, etc.    Tried to intimidate people?

They haven't been linked to attacks on federal officers, state officers, etc.

Just curious.....

What does this word salad even mean?
"NOPE....
wouldn't support.

But like cks stated... would support."

Good lord.

To answer your question, I would not support a permanent nullification of the 2026 midterms. I might support some kind of PEAD concerning the elections if domestic terrorists tried to upend the elections
First he answered your direct question re midterm nullification. Then he agreed with my conditional support of a PEAD in the event of terrorist actions to disrupt the election. Finally, he noted that CDL, while not answering your question directly, did make some very pertinent points that he agreed with.

YEP.... he just keeps proving the point that he is a STEREOTYPICAL LIBERAL.   That tries to look smarter, puts others down when he can't refute what they say, etc.

I didn't need to re-hash anything you stated.   If I did... he would have said... well you just repeated what CKS stated and you must share a brain or something to that affect.     It is what he does.... Many times he just pukes out what liberal media tells him too and cant come up with his own ideas.

This shows that you are a typical liberal trying to put others down.   Thanks for keeping up stereotype.

I didn't need to rehash what CKC stated.

I wouldn't support it for TRUMP to just do this.    But like ckc stated..... if groups try to take over voter polls, intimidate, etc.    Yeah.... then I would.   You know the FUCKING CLAUSE which he talked about.

So I didn't need to "rehash" what he stated.    But yeah be a fucking stereotypical liberal and try to act like you are smarter than everyone....which you are not.

Yet that exactly what you just did. TWICE.
And I don't think I'm "smarter than everyone," just you. Well.....and the rest of your righty monkey squad.
And that's not much of an accomplishment with a knuckle-dragger such as yourself.
TSTTT.

This whole ballroom, and the cost and this ultra fortress that's being built...maybe...just maybe this mother fucker ain't leaving on 2028. Guy will be holed down there till the heat blows over.
Trump won't need some PEAD act or whatever it's called. He'll just summon his ICE goons to cover the WH.
I think there's a movie in this...somewhere

to 3 to 6 months out.  When you start speculating about 2 years from now, it makes it look like you have nothing to say that is currently topical, so you are grasping at straws to find something positive, whereas ANYTHING that may look positive that far out could go South for any number of reasons between now and 2028.

And he was holed up in his bunker waiting for the heat to blow over.

Trump said he world leader 'did some good things' and wanted generals like he had.

Gee, do you think history will repeat itself regarding world leaders and bunkers?

"The Trouble with Trump's Bunker and Ballroom"
-- by historian Garrett Graff
http://www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/the-trouble-with-trump-s-bunker-and-ballroom

"This would run counter to literally decades of continuity planning and evacuation plans, all of which hold that the most important thing is to get the president out of the identifiable, known location of the White House and into motion, either to a bunker or aircraft where he would be harder to locate and target."

"The whole point of the presidential evacuation and 'Continuity of the Presidency' planning is you wan to get the president out of the place where everyone knows where he is and get him into a place where people don't know where he is.  The last thing we should do is investing in a new giant bunker facility at the place most readily identifiable with where the president is."

STOP WITH THE TRUMP IS HITLER and he WISHES HE WAS..... The "HIITLER IS GOOD" comment Trump was talking about economy and pride in country.   Which pride in country isn't a bad thing.

Hitler actually did good things for his country.   He helped get them out of a great depression, pushed for building the autobahn and German highways (created jobs), pushed for non-world dependent banking,  helped with farming and industry,  invested in VW and this lead to "German engineering", along "German Engineering" is the military investment/development (not the war crime stuff) but building and design of tanks, planes, and so on, he was pro animal rights, etc.

He also had great generals in the war.   If Hitler would have let them run the war..... WW2 would have been a lot different.   Thank god he didn't listen to them and attacked Russia.

So yeah...... he did some good things.    Hitler's various actions cannot erase his evil image in history. He is still one of the most brutal leaders in human history, and his crimes can never be forgiven.   But you can't ignore he did good things too he did for his country (early on).

When Trump was saying these things was also when he was trying to "bring back" the economy.   THE SAME AS HITLER DID TO HIS COUNTRY.      But yeah..... ignore how Trump and others say that is why Trump said he did good things.    It wasn't his war crimes..... it was his outlook on economy and building his country up.     **** Now QUE Trump is committing war crimes bullshit (Venezuela).

"Hitler actually did good things". Let that sink in everybody. Not only are you a trump apologist, but now you have sunk even lower to be a Hitler apologist.  Have you no morals? Have you no conscience? Have you no decency? Don't try to defend yourself. Just apologize and go away forever.

He tried to cover his tracks by saying Hitler was also evil. But failed.

That isn't covering your tracks.    It is stating the TRUTH.

EVIL PEOPLE CAN STILL DO SOME GOOD THINGS.      Especially world leaders or leaders of countries.   They pass policy, do trade, etc.  things that help the country.    BUT THEN do horrible humanitarian things.    On the flip... some great Humanitarian leaders are fucking horrible at economics.

I do have morals.    Like i said the good didn't  out weigh the bad.    BUT ON ECONOMICS..... Hitler did good things for his country to get them out of a depression.    You can't ignore that.

Smart people learn the good and bad history.   You know so you can't repeat the bad.   But if something worked and it was good.... look into it to see if it would work again.    People always try to re-invent the wheel.

But yeah.... call me names and what not.   But history doesn't lie.   Hitler did good things for Germany and then many many bad things.     Just bury your head in the sand.

Yup all the good he did was for The Third Reich.
Kinda like what we’re seeing now but in a poor man’s version

YOU ARE A MORON and should actually look at history.   It wasn't only for the "THIRD REICH".     It was for the country.   It got them out of a depression.   That is how he kept rising in power and Germany did too.    But ignore history.

Hitlers good things he did don't out weigh the horrible shit.   BUT you can't ignore things he did for the economy and bring pride for country.   Yeah even i the beginning he was bringing pride to ALL GERMANS.... even the jews that he later did horrible things too.   He brought the country together..... then he did the horrible things.     But yeah..... facts and history escape many.    With history you need to look a the good and bad.

That would be never. Oh, and, "SEIG HIEL!"
Your statement above may be the most disgusting lie ever posted on this board.
Why aren't we hearing from any local righties on this?

Before we address the misstatement, let’s acknowledge that at the end of the day, CSRM did state that Hitler’s negatives far outweigh any positives that might be attributed to him.

Hitler's various actions cannot erase his evil image in history. He is still one of the most brutal leaders in human history, and his crimes can never be forgiven.
In the future, I hope we could avoid criticisms that rely on out of context quotes.

Now, onto the “even the Jews” claim. There was a very small minority of Jews, mostly WWI vets, who supported Hitler in the early years.
From Google:

Support for Hitler in his early years by self-identified, practicing Jewish people was rare, but a tiny, highly assimilated, and nationalistic organization known as the Association of German National Jews (VnJ), led by Max Naumann, did support him. They were later disbanded and sent to camps.Key Aspects of Early Support and ContextAssociation of German National Jews (VnJ): Formed during the Weimar Republic, this group aimed for total assimilation, strongly identified as German nationalists, and supported Hitler, believing his anti-semitism was only a "rhetorical tool" to stir the masses
So although there were German Jews who initially supported Hitler, my read of CSRM’s “even the Jews” claim was an implication that Hitler had significant support from German Jews in the early years. That claim is incorrect.

He said even the Jews were at first "proud" of Hitler. I would venture to say that even the very few Jews who supported Hitler out of a mistaken belief they might be left alone, were not "proud" of him.
At best they were afraid but wrongly hoped they could slip under the radar.

NICKY PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH...... NO  I said that Hitler promoted pride in Germany.... pride in country....this is what many believed in as well.    Not pride in HITLER.

Like mentioned there were Jews that wanted the "PRIDE IN COUNTRY".       Like stated about the WW1 vets and some other business owners and industry leaders because of his focus on the economy and breaking away from the Weimar Republic and the policies they had enforced.   Plus blasting the treaty of Versailles and how Germany was treated.  (Many Germans thought it was unfair)      BUT then once he got named Chancellor he started his segregation policies.

I think your attempt to exonerate trump by trying to defend a mass-murdering monster like Hitler is appalling and reprehensible. In case you have forgotten trump, and certain members of his regime, have also used language against immigrants, the press, and trump's opponents that was taken right out of the mouths of Hitler and other murderous Nazi thugs. I'm convinced that there is nothing you won't do or say to justify anything that trump does. You would have made a very loyal Nazi.

Here's what you wrote: "he was bringing pride to ALL GERMANS.... even the jews." That does NOT say the same thing as "pride in Germany" or "PRIDE IN COUNTRY." It is, at best, ambiguous. If you even know what that means.
Pride in WHAT? You now claim it's in Germany or Country. But it can also be fairly read as pride in their government or pride in their leader. You know. That guy called Hitler. How can you have pride in your country if it doesn't extend to its leadership and the governing party? You can't.
Now go away and study how to write a clear, declarative sentence. And, while you're at it, study reading comprehension.

You obviously meant pride in Germany. But I guess he believes that if he types a rebuttal using CAPS LOCK, that proves him right. He’s taking another reasonably discussed topic at this forum and is looking like he’s about to take it off the rails.

Hilarious to see him condemn me for using all caps when our Hitler-loving fool just used them more than I did.
ChicKie has no idea where the rails are.

To this donkey of a post?
Is this something or someone you want to defend??
Suggestion...walk away

Hitler cultivated pride and nationalism. He created a cult like culture where he’s the savior…then he made them afraid of the “vermin”.
Also  Government spending was prioritized on military expansion … see ICE/Gustapo
Hitler economy was fueled by high deficit spending.., I love debt
There’s more and if you don’t see it…then..YOU’’RE A FUCKING IDIOT/MORON…😂😂
Now righties will cry…. “Happy called Trump Hitler, he’s being mean”🤪

"... even the Jews"????????????
.
Have you read ANY parts of Mein Kampf? Hitler's antisemitism is explicit therein. Hitler's goal of "elimination of the Jews," perhaps only meaning to get the Jews and other "weak" people out of Germany to make room for the "strong" (Aryans). His idea was not yet fully developed to mean "EXTERMINATION of the Jews."  Hitler was already writing about terror campaigns in Mein Kampf.
.
http://www.britannica.com/topic/Mein-Kampf
"... According to Hitler, it was “the sacred mission of the German people…to assemble and preserve the most valuable racial elements…and raise them to the dominant position.” “All who are not of a good race are chaff,” wrote Hitler. It was necessary for Germans to “occupy themselves not merely with the breeding of dogs, horses, and cats but also with care for the purity of their own blood.” Hitler ascribed international significance to the elimination of Jews, which “must necessarily be a bloody process,” he wrote.
.
"The second volume, entitled Die Nationalsozialistische Bewegung (“The National Socialist Movement”), written after Hitler’s release from prison in December 1924, outlines the political program, including the terrorist methods, that National Socialism must pursue both in gaining power and in exercising it thereafter in the new Germany. In style, Mein Kampf has been appropriately deemed turgid, repetitious, wandering, illogical, and, in the first edition at least, filled with grammatical errors—all reflecting a half-educated man. It was skillfully demagogic, however, appealing to many dissatisfied elements in Germany—the ultranationalistic, the anti-Semitic, the antidemocratic, the anti-Marxist, and the military. ..."
.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_Kampf
"In Mein Kampf, Hitler used the main thesis of "the Jewish peril", which posits a Jewish conspiracy to gain world leadership.[11] The narrative describes the process by which he became increasingly antisemitic and militaristic, especially during his years in Vienna.  ...
.
"Mein Kampf has also been studied as a work on political theory. For example, Hitler announces his hatred of what he believed to be the world's two evils: communism and Judaism. In the book, Hitler blamed Germany's chief woes on the parliament of the Weimar Republic, the Jews, and Social Democrats, as well as Marxists, though he believed that Marxists, Social Democrats, and the parliament were all working for Jewish interests. ..."
.
"First published in 1925, Mein Kampf shows Hitler's personal grievances and his ambitions for creating a New Order. Hitler also wrote that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a fabricated text that purported to expose a Jewish plot to control the world, was an authentic document. This later became a part of the Nazi propaganda effort to justify persecution and annihilation of the Jews. ..."
.
I don't want to suggest that MAGAs read Mein Kampf unless it is a sensibly annotated edition. They have already fallen for Trump's lies and propaganda that they would probably fall more deeply in love with Hitler than they are already.

This is just demonstrably wrong. Anyone who has read anything about the first few years of the Hitler regime knows Hitler did nothing of the kind. He mainly terrorized the opposition and, along the way, killed off many of his supporters. Try reading about "the night of the long knives" in the summer of 1934, barely a year and a half after he took office.
Our village idiot has once again shown his deep ignorance.

comparisons of Trump to Hitler fail completely.  There is a huge difference in creating a false sense of "pride in country" through fear and intimidation and the resurgence of "Pride in Country" that comes from stoking the patriotic longings of the population in general.  There has been no president that has been able to make the MAJORITY of Americans feel good about America since Ronald Reagan before Trump 47.  The difference is in the policies.  The Democrats (and RINO GW Bush) embraced a policy of "managed decline" and nowhere was that more apparent than the Biden years which starkly contrast the Trump 45 and 47 presidencies.  We are still at the beginning of a period of unprecedented growth that will benefit all Americans, and I think over the next 6 months leading up the election this is why Americans will choose to support Trump with a Republican Congress rather than go back to the chaos of Trump's first term when the Democrats did nothing but the meaningless impeachments of Trump.  We should never underestimate the stupidity of Democrat voters or their political masters being able to lie and manipulate them, but I like the way the landscape is shaping up for this fall.

Trump knew who were the weakest link in our society
Make them afraid, and tell them he’s the only one to fix it
Promise them everything and deliver nothing
