No, Righties, not because I think he is doing a poor job for I don't. But it's been two years of his leadership during this pandemic, he often says he works 16-18 hours per day, he is now 81 years old, and it is just human nature to tune someone out after years of listening to him and I think that may be happening with the American public.
I think it is time for a younger, more dynamic man or woman to step in and take us to the finish line (whatever that looks like) and allow this man to finally rest.  
Give him his due, pat him on the back and thank him for his service to the nation for sure, but I do believe it is time for him to go.

Fauci has devoted his life to public service, public health and the public good. He's earned the right to go out on his own terms.

Remember, trump kneecap him at the beginning. He wasn't able to speak truth to what really needed to be done. So he had a credibility problem under the trump administration. trump wanted a certain message from Fauci and it was hard for him to appease trump while trying to do what right. He was in a tough position...and trump didn't help him.
And if Biden was to replace him then who would Biden replace him with?  
Anyways, the way I see it, I'm totally vaccinated, I wear my mask in public places so I don't really need any more direction...it is what it is. If we can't follow these simple guidelines than we have a problem and no new messenger is gonna change that.

But, like I said,  the man is 81 and it is an exhausting job. Much like political advisors need to step down after a long run to change the narrative, so do political appointees at times.  
And let's not overlook the political implications either. Joe is under water and not polling well at all. A big part of that is due to Covid and his handling of same.
Joe promised the nation when he was running against Trump that he would get Covid under control. It isn't. Someone needs to be held responsible in the eyes of many. This is an election year. Let's start acting like it.  
I just don't see any upside of keeping him on at this point.

Not sure if replacing Fauci would be a political benefit or if keeping him will be a liability. And what kinda message could this person make or change? Will this new person with his messaging make republicans get vaccinated? No message from this new person will change that.
A shake up for the sake of a shake up sometimes may not work. At this stage, I'm all for keeping him.

Fauci's position is NOT a political appointment position. That's the reason that Trump couldn't fire him.

He is the only one with enviable amount of experience with this type viral attacks and spreads.

But if Joe talks to him privately and says he didn't think Fauci's service was needed any longer, Fauci would certainly step down. It wouldn't be a firing per se, but more of an asking, privately, for his resignation.  Valid point however.

I am not a FAN of Fauci-he needs to go. There are many more qualified epidemiologist in this country that can easily feel his shoes.

Fauci is a mercurial public figure. Many hate him, many adore him. You make some good non-political points on why Fauci should retire, but his retirement, especially one encouraged by Biden, would have big political repercussions.  

The head of HHS under Trump was Alex Azar, a political appointee. The head of the CDC under Trump was Robert Redfield, a political appointee. Redfield had the authority to fire Fauci. As I recall, there was talk that Trump was going to pressure Redfield to fire Fauci but that there would be pushback from Redfield or that Redfield would threaten to resign. (Such maneuvering might have happened behind the scenes.)

There were occasions when Redfield would make science-based announcements about the CDC's position on masks, social distancing, vaccines, etc. and Trump would then contradict Redfield in a tweet or news conference.

That's on China. What we DO blame Trump for is lying to us that it would "be gone in a few weeks," then "gone by Easter," then "gone by summer." All the while being ON TAPE with Woodward about how deadly it really is. He caused thousands of needless deaths.

So everyone can see what has happened and what is going on.   It is very entertaining to see how is fights back and forth with Senator Rand Paul.  I was fun eating the popcorn.
