After all, it is a political season...

I'd call it smart flip flop at worst...No big deal!

Are you going to think of it as "no big deal" if your job got offshored ?  

The CEO of Infosys, the biggest Indian Offshore company said recently that he is going after any job performed behind a desk in the US.

At some point top level execs who make decisions will realize that some of the outsourcing decisions are not good for the country.  For the time being, we get cheaper good as a result of outsourcing but at some point there will not be enough well paying jobs to allow most people to buy those good, at that point the true cost of outsourcing will begin to sink in.
    What can be done?  One thing would be to lobby retirement funds, which are among the biggest investors on corporations.  If pressure is brought on retirement funds to use their sway to insure that outsourcing (not all outsourcing is bad) efforts carefully weigh the shortterm and longterm impact upon a company's US workforce, then incremental change in a positive direction will begin to emerge.

you're right, most of us don't realize that if we create an economy of low paying job's how it will catch up w/us. how much goods and services can we sell to anyone who makes $7-$10 a hour?

When you say that we receive "cheaper goods", I just don't see it. Nike has been paying their off shore employees a few dollars a day, if that, and their products are still extremely exspensive.
I think all the savings goes directly to the companies thru cheaper labor costs and no benefit spending, and is not being passed down to the consumer.
