Well, I've been surprised by the anti-European sentiments expressed on threads below. I know those who post on this board are not a representive group of Americans but hey, what do you think of us Europeans?
I also have really enjoyed most Europeans that I have met, and my ex-GF of nine years was French. I have found many Europeans have a more "balanced" (oooo...love that word) view of life than Americans do, but there are always exceptions on both sides.
Of course, I am a tree-hugger, so every Repug or conservative or whatever of that ilk is going to say "We already knew that".
There is nothing wrong with being a tree hugger. Some of my best Republican friends are tree huggers. Get naked and strip the bark off one of those babies and you've got - in TER lingo - privates to privates massage. And guaranteed at least a #4 in review - "she just laid there" in overall experience rating. Find a squirrel hole and go barebark. I know BBFS is kinda taboo subject with you reservoir heads on the left, but a little sandpaper will reduce the spinters and if the squirrel is home - do a Richard Gere. The Dalai apparently doesn't mind this activity.
I was saddened to read you had to spend 9 years with a French person. If Europe would just loose the French, 80% of our hostility - gone. The other 20% is in Québec.
We don't know about Europeans generally, but we're pretty sure that you, personally, are so overly earnest that you may not realize when you've been the butt of a round of "Yank Earnestine's Chain".
When you lose this game - as you have - the rules require you to drop your knickers, grab your ankles and bend over for a nice spanking, etc. etc., ahhhhhhhhhh....
Carrie,if you have in mind european providers I'd say, especially about british providers, that many ladies are so refined and beautiful that it makes you sometimes wonder why they chose such an uncoventional lifestyle. For an opinion about european men you'd have to wait for a lady's opinion......
I've known maybe a half dozen, and every damn one was about a half a hair from going right over the edge. Every one was only one random event from complete insanity.
Don't know if Denmark is considered part of the Scandanavian region , but common wisdom is that there is a higher than usual incidence of emotional illness in that area, especially depression [with which I'm sadly qute familar].
I don't look at it as "anti-European". I think of it as pro-American. Based on the half full glass theory. But to cloud things even more, the whole origin of America is anti-European to some degree. I would say I am pro-national identity and more opposed at attempts to homogenize a continent. Though I do drink 2% milk. Consistancy is not a human trait to paraphrase Ruth Gordon's movie character of Maude in "Harold and Maude". In summary, the French suck. I don't think I need to support further that. It's pretty common knowledge here, and I'm guessing that's something we have in common with you North Atlantic peoples.
You guys are ok with me. The reality is people are pretty much the same all over-except in Japan, which was more or less separated from the rest of the world until the 17th Century or so. They have the same hopes, wishes, ideals, dreams, morals, etc.
These are difficult times to be an American, but both we and the planet will survive it.
