Donald is absolutely right. Maybe we should rename ours "Trumpball".
He desperately wanted to own a franchise but was told by NFL insiders he would never be admitted to that club. So he started the New York Generals of the (I think) WFL. But, of course, like every business Trump touched, the Generals went bankrupt. No doubt he still carries a grudge. Because that's what he does.
....just can't quite make it to the finish line. Trump was one of several owners of the USFL and the league folded, Trump's involvement was actually a positive force within the USFL but the league collapsed shortly after Trump's successful antitrust law suit against the NFL.
Because of the lawsuit, It was NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle himself that told Trump that as long as he or his heirs were involved in the NFL, Trump would never be involved in it.

The check was written out for $3.76, this was on order from the court. It isn't that Bigpoopy was simply wrong, he took the position that they HAD TO PAY $3.00. The biggest USA or "American" thing to do is still call it "AMERICAN Football". Then call SOCCER.... European FUTBOL.... yep that is the biggest middle finger of all.... LOL
It will always be football and soccer when you are talking about the sports in the USA or inside these borders. If you are respectful and talking about things in Europe or abroad... you say Futbol when talking about those teams and "american football" or "American style football" when discussing NFL.

Trump, having lied his way onto the Forbes list, submitted a copy of Forbes "richest celebrities" list as proof of his wealth. That did not meet the standard of proof of the NFL.

From my research, there seem to be a lot more stories written about Trump and his involvement in the USFL since he ran for president than there were during and after it collapsed.
