Here in So California, Jan Perry, a Democrat is planning a registration that would ban fast food restaurants such as McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken from opening in a 32 square mile radius of Los Angeles. The unprecedented move rises from high obesity rates in Los Angeles, not aesthetic reasons for banning fast food establishments such as others cities.
The funny thing about this registration, which impacts the inner city, is that she and other LA City Council members, with pressure from union groups, rejected a permit for a Fresh and Easy market. This market has a reputation for selling wholesome products, but is a non-union market.
Talk about social engineering and just plain stupid economics.
I'm not advocating it, but it's coming. Employers are now allowed to ask about your personal habits (smoking, etc.) before hiring you since they are offering medical benefits. So it isn't too far-fetched to believe that a national government providing free health care wouldn't be very excited about granting citizenship to a heart attack waiting to happen.
