Soon after President Trump dressed down Maine’s governor:
EXCLUSIVE: Following Trump's Friday spat with Maine's governor over men in women's sports, the governor's chief of staff just had a public meltdown and cursed out a White House official. Alex Meyer, the White House's director of intergovernmental affairs, was speaking to a group of gubernatorial chiefs of staff this morning in DC. When Meyer told them that Maine needs to follow the law and protect women's sports, Gov. Janet Mills' chief of staff Jeremy Kennedy exclaimed "Fuck you, you asshole," and stormed out of the room, I'm told by a senior White House official. We just reached out to Kennedy. Full story to come.
Others report this isn’t his first meltdown:
For those outside of Maine, this is totally on brand for Jeremy Kennedy, Gov. Mills’ chief of staff — both to have a meltdown and then to deny it. The Mills crew isn’t used to critical media or even opposing political views.
Statement from Maine House Republican Leader Rep. Billy Bob Faulkingham (R-Winter Harbor)
Maine Governor Janet Mills' Chief of Staff, Jeremy Kennedy, has developed a pattern of explosive, profanity-laced tirades According to a report from The Daily Wire, White House officials have revealed that Jeremy Kennedy, a senior official in Governor Mills' administration, had a highly unprofessional outburst during a meeting regarding the topic of men in women’s sports. The incident reportedly occurred on a Saturday morning in Washington, D.C., during a discussion between Alex Meyer, the White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, and a group of gubernatorial chiefs of staff. When Meyer informed Kennedy that Maine must comply with the law to protect women’s sports, Kennedy allegedly responded with a profanity-laden insult and stormed out of the room.
It continues:
While this recent outburst is now public, it highlights a troubling pattern of intimidation and unprofessional conduct from Kennedy, whose actions have consistently displayed arrogance and recklessness. This is not the first time his behavior has raised concern. Just a month ago, the Maine House Republican Office sent an official letter to Governor Mills expressing serious concerns about Kennedy’s hostile behavior during budget negotiations
In closing, a call for an apology:
Maine people deserve better from their elected representatives and their senior staff. It is incumbent upon Governor Mills to direct her Chief of Staff to issue a formal apology to the White House and to the people of Maine for Jeremy Kennedy’s inappropriate behavior."
