On video, it doesn't matter
to me if he could of been tased
or not. Or if he was mentally ill
or not, he was carrying a knife and  
and refused to drop it and I
believe the Officers have a right
to use deadly force.

He could have also have had
a death with, and this was his
way to protest...

I wonder how the circus will view
this killing....

The officers absolutely could have driven away and asked for back up. I have never seen police actually drive away and ask for back up.  

 
I'm not involved in analyzing police involved shootings.  

Why did the young man instigate the police confrontation?

They could have saved this man's life.   May be he was mentally ill, needed help.   It is easy to shoot a man to death

The police were called and find a lunatic brandishing a weapon. You think they should have left the scene? That tops the stupidity that you riddle this board with.

If the cops would have left, this lunatic would have stabbed the first bystander that he didn't like. Then what? It would have been a dereliction of duty and the cops would have to be fired for being cowards and not doing their jobs.

So you think it was okay for this lunatic to acost the police, weapon in hand and they should have ran away? You are an imbecile. The shooting was justified and warranted. The video proves it.

I saw the video several times and I agree that this was a tenuous situation for the police.  Having said this, my problem is that deadly force was the first and only response.  Police made no attempt to defuse the situation, no attempt to talk him down, no attempt to utilize other than deadly force.  I could tell from the video, that there was something seriously wrong with this guy.  Why did they not?

Which leads me to point to an earlier posting that I made, In Germany a total of 85 shots were fired by the entire police force, 49 of those were warning shots. Why does out police forces choose to immediately use deadly force.  I believe lack of training, lack of accountability, and the dehumanization of the communities they purport to police.   Police shoot first because we allow them to do it.

Yes valid points,  

But lets also look at Black American culture,
I got the impression the guy video taping
the scene knew it was going to happen...

None of the black guys around tried to
say anything to him, they were all just
waiting to see what would unfold....

If the black american culture wasn't
such a criminal culture, this kind of stuff
would be rare rather than the norm...

Soon, there will be a competition as to who will have the deadliest weapons, cops, or citizens. At the rate cops are acting crazed animals on the street don't be surprised, if citizens take up arms start shooting. Unfettered stupidity leads to more and more stupidity.  

No, cops do not have the right to shoot someone with knife just because the cop asked him to. If it becomes justifiable then we are fucked as country. Cops are becoming a threat to society instead of serving the citizens.
