I simply stated that the ABC/DNC piece did'nt hold much sway with me because they relied on interviews from unreliable witnesses. Considering what passes for journalism these days I'm not surprised though.

You then launched into your "you guys" crap and war strategy. Jeez, do you insist on explaining the origin of pepper before you pass the shaker?

BTW, we missed you at DVII today. I saw heaven, and she was wearing a dress...

Nightline Demolishes Anti-Kerry Swift Boat Story:
=================================================

ABC News Nightline went to Vietnam and interviewed villagers who witnessed the firefight in February 1969 that led to John Kerry being awarded a Silver Star. The incident is a center piece of the allegations made by the so-called 'Swift Boat Veterans for Truth', whose leader John O'Neill has claimed that there was no firefight and that Kerry shot dead a fleeing teenager. Nightline's detailed interviews with the villagers, including former Viet Cong fighters who took part in the incident, verified Kerry's account of events. When confronted by Nightline's Ted Koppel, a clearly rattled O'Neill refused to address the content of the report.

it's ABC News, and their anchor defended Dan Rather, so they are EVIL TOO!  Don't you know that you can only trust Fox News, that it is the only major network that is "fair and balanced"?

You just don't get it, do you?

picture hangs proudly in the Vietnam War memorial museum. The museum that's in Hanoi, Vietnam that is. It's true.

As if they have any freedom now!  The Communist Party in Vietnam will have a large advantage with Kerry in office... afterall he is one of their war heroes!

His picture in the War Museum in Ho Chi Mihn City is adorned with fresh flowers daily!

That report is a farce. To think you'd go to Vietnam where Kerry is a hero with the represive, victorious VC regime and find someone who, under the watchful eye of a government "watcher" isn't reading from the VC playbook is a farce.

Thanks ABC, for showing your hand.

You guys are pretty funny- still whinging about VietNam.

The Viets are pretty much over it.  And why not be thankful for a guy who pointed out to your opponent that they were involved in a was that was not in their real interests?

You guys act as if the VietNam War was the best idea going in the 60s and being run really well.  It was a total balls up and ought to have been stoppped earlier.

Of course if it had been fought the real counter insurgent way, things might have been different, but that would have involved real thought and a better effort, not strong points for the US Military back then...

And VietNam is getting more capitalist with our investment than our military could even dream of...

just for fun, why don't you meet me and a TER buddy at a Garden Grove teahouse today for lunch. We can sip tea and flirt with some of the most beautiful VN women on the planet.

You can wear your Ho Chi Min/Pol Pot t-shirt and explain to the crowd how much better things are in their homeland!

I promise to intercede before an ambulance is needed....lol

Uh- where did I say I was for the VC/NVG?

and of course things are screwed up there now- Its a communist country- run on Marxist-leninist lines.

I MEANT that a campaign closer to the Malaya model would have been both cheaper and MORE EFFECTIVE.  And picking better allies would have been good.

And way too many of the GG Viets were part of the problem to give a good account.

your post is a classic case of misunderstanding a point and a quickie US type response.

These are difficult and nuanced issues in the world today and in the past- Time for Yanks to catch up and THINK before they pop-off!

Did any of you who are dismissing the ABC report actually see the nightline broadcast?  It was very enlightening. After the field report, Kopple had a live sattelite hookup with John O'Neil, head of Swift Boat Veterans for Lies.  Kopple gave him ample opportunities to refute the reporting but he refused.  He simply refused to answer any of the questions he was being asked and Kopple finally just had to cut the interview short.   If this guy is the best evidence against Kerry then it's really no contest, since everyone who was actually there pretty much backs the version of events that Kerry tell and that was in the military's post-action reports.
