Looks like the Dems have finally noticed that the US COC is as much a problem as I've been saying.

known as "Citizens United", I believe. The decision stated that corporations ( through 3rd party groups or "pacs" ) can give unlimited amounts ANONOMOUSLY to political parties/and/or candidates. That means that foreign interests can be playing a major role in our elections. And we know which party big business overwhelmingly favors. They've been in the "hip pocket" of big business for well over a 100 years. All this doesn't exactly make for a "level playing field" when it comes to elections.

It looks like this country has regressed from a "Democracy" ( or, to be technical, a representational democracy ) to the days of Wm. Mckinley where the country was a " Corpocracy"
( run by corrupt business interests ).

Pretty fucking depressing .

Pria...as I understand it, the Citizens United case didn't undo the laws on the books that make it illegal for foreign companies to spend money on US elections.

Pwilley...corporations outspend unions in elections by some crazy ratio like 20:1. Not sure of the exact ratio, but it's very lopsided.

I also don't think both are equally as dangerous. Corporate influence on elections just gives us a gov't that favors corporate interests. Union influence on elections just gives us a gov't that favors working stiffs, and (just about) everyone is one of those.

Well, I don't disagree with this portion of your thinking, but for goodness sakes, be open minded enough to realize that this is not a one sided problem.  All these damn "groups" do the same thing.  The unions are just as darn guilty of trying to buy elections as anyone else.  George dumps millions of bucks in the dems coffers, Hollywood dumps millions in the dems coffers, and the list goes on.  Anyone with money to spend, an agenda to push, and a belief that their money might buy them a WH visit does the same thing.  Let's call it for what it is... greed, bribery, dishonesty.  It's not limited to any particular political party so let's not paint it that way.

Of course there's no evidence, just baseless charges.
