before i post the letter, let me just say this about my intentions. Sometimes if i post a picture or cartoon its because i really do want to hear BOTH sides of the story. I want people's thoughts on it. I want people to post the other side of the story of what that means

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina
and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted.
Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do
you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears's parking lot.
Man, was that a drag.

Also, any ideas where our entire national guard soldiers are? We could
really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do
like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to
begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of
Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but
it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were
still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was
on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I
know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't
like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of
dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to
Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps.
Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was
over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you
specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans
this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if
you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be
any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more
important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was
moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as
you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the
disaster.
Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some
rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to
use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out.
Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would
happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and
hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their
global warming Chicken Littlest. There is nothing unusual about a
hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that
stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault
That 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of
thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're
black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you
imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me
laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army
helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and
the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

He tells a story about a man who rose to power in spite of his inability to lead decisively.  He tells that story, using literary tools that make him appear one sided.  As a result, he's an easy target for the Bushies to argue against.  I received that letter in an email from my mother several days back, and told my SO about it.  Her immediate reaction was "that fat piece of shit...don't even tell me what he said".  I interrupted her long enough to tell her that he said EXACTLY what she's been saying, watching CNN.  She remained unmoved, until I told her of someone's suggestion that they lay his fat ass in the levy breach to stop the water.

What he says is often true, but he's a target of the conservative, and it hurts his message.

With his slides, Powerpoints and vials of Anthrax that Sadam was handing out when you bought a Kabab in Baghdad.

Oh and remember....Dukakis was going to let out BLACK RAPISTS message?  

They have nerve to call Willy Slick or Moore one-sided.

which is one reason I liked him so much.  Despite the best efforts of the righties, they could never make anything stick.  When he was running the show, we were in a period of great prosperity.  I don't recall him ever screwing anything up to the point that even begins to approach the blunders of GWB.  As for the the blowjobs, etc., TER should give him an hornorary lifetime membership - in exchange for reviews of Monica, et. al., of course.

Seldom gets his facts correct.  Resorts to the language of 12 yr olds and in short, is not even talented.  A target, yes, because he is an easy target.

He was the first one to say it publicly. My guess for why the right hate him so much is because he is right:

"We live in a time with ficticious election results that elect fictious presidents. We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictious reasons."

So which facts in the that letter are wrong?

But in this case he is still correct, regardless of his language. Bush is a fuck up, but I don't think anything is going to make you see that.

I had the opportunity last week to sit next to Mr. Moore on a flight from Traverse City, MI to Chicago (Moore has a very sweet estate up there) and I ended up sitting next to him.  While I don't often agree with his politics, I found my 1 hour with him quite interesting and enjoyable.  He's not only genuinely friendly (a man of the people as he claims), but he's also clearly a smart and sarcastically funny guy in addition to being a talented film maker.

Once we got going, I did ask him what he does in terms of not-for-profit work and, to be honest, I was a little suprised he did little other than promoting causes.  For a guy with alot of money, he's not very active in donating money.  

Now, I know philanthropy is a matter of individual taste, but i keep asking myself: If Moore wants GM to provide subsidies for out of work union members in Flint, why doesn't he walk the walk and donate some of his own?  

So, on one hand, I found him to be a really good guy, but on the other, I couldn't help suspect his a bit of an opportunist himself.

FYI, the "man of the people" flew in first class.

The general vibe I am hearing is that if you are one-sided against the administration that makes you a target and therefore hurts your message? Just because people are closed minded and will not listen does not mean people like Michael Moore should not speak his mind for fear that it will "hurt his message". At least he has a message unlike most all the Democrats. I say it is far better to speak your mind than having no message at all or appearing to soften your message for fear of attracting the rublican smear machine. If more prominent people would speak up like Michadel Moore does, maybe the right-wing would not be able to villify and smear everybody who says anything against them.

But as the lone person speaking, he's merely a target.  I'm not saying that he should shut up; he needs to find some friends so that he's not such an easy target.
