Wow!, this is low, even for republicians....This shows how desperate these people are....And please, no comparisons to Fahrenheit 911 because you cannot see F-911 on PUBLIC broadcasting, only cable or video.......This is also from the SAME company that refused to air the Nightline episode where the names of dead soliders were read as being too political!

I'm convinced executives at Sinclair would throw their own mother in front of a bus if it would secure a Bush vote.....

I guess we'll have to wait till after the election for the news and tv coverage to see who really forged the documents that were given to CBS. Where's the outrage over that. Liberal media doesn't see this as a priority I guess.CBS has a much wider audience than Sinclair they have tried to directly affect the election with the hatchet job they broadcast.  I know you don't want a comparison to Michael Moore, but the question is whats good for the goose is good for the gander. If you really want sleeze though go to the moveon.org site
Both sides are fighting to win don't expect it to get better till nov 3. Even then you have to hope that the gerriatrics in FL have figured out how to vote this year.

But there's too many men who have served with Kerry to slime them all. If the claims they made were untrue then Kerry should sue them. Its not like he doesn't kow how, he's a lawyer. Unfortunately for him the truth is always a defence against slander.

FCC COMMISSIONER STATEMENT ON SINCLAIR AIRING OF ANTI-KERRY SHOW
================================================================
Tue Oct 12 2004 13:39:02 ET

FCC COMMISSIONER COPPS CRITICIZES SINCLAIR CORPORATE DECISION TO PREEMPT LOCAL STATIONS FOR POLITICAL BROADCAST

Commissioner Michael J. Copps reacted to reports that Sinclair Broadcast Group will preempt more than 60 local stations across the country to air an overtly political program in the days prior to the Presidential election.

Copps stated: "This is an abuse of the public trust.  And it is proof positive of media consolidation run amok when one owner can use the public airwaves to blanket the country with its political ideology -- whether liberal or conservative.  Some will undoubtedly question if this is appropriate stewardship of the public airwaves. This is the same corporation that refused to air Nightline’s reading of our war dead in Iraq.  It is the same corporation that short-shrifts local communities and local jobs by distance-casting news and weather from hundreds of miles away.  It is a sad fact that the explicit public interest protections we once had to ensure balance continue to be weakened by the Federal Communications Commission while it allows media conglomerates to get even bigger.  Sinclair, and the FCC, are taking us down a dangerous road."

END

1.) So why hasn't Bush sued CBS?

2.) Many of the men who served with Kerry have stood up in his defense.

3.) The head guy of the supposedly non-partisan Swiftys is actually a major contributer to the GOP.  Think he's non-partisan?

4.) One of the lawyers in Bush's campaign gave legal advice to the Swiftys.  Coincidence?

There's just not a lot of difference between the two situations.  A liberal network (CBS) played one, a conservative network (Fox) played the other.  Face it.  One party distorts the truth just as much or more as the other for political gain.  You decide which is which.  That's just the nature of politics.  I'd prefer it if there weren't so many dirty tricks though.

SINCLAIRIOUS
-------------
We do not believe such political statements should be disguised as news content.
- Sinclair Broadcast Group, from its April 30, 2004 statement on Nightline decision

OH REALLY ?????

Okay. We can get depressed about Sinclair’s plans to broadcast the anti-Kerry attackumentary and start looking for another country to live in--or we can FIGHT BACK ! ! !

Here are some ways to act: contact John McCain
-
http://mccain.senate.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=Contact.Home
-
and suggest that he denounce Sinclair and ask the FCC to do its job; get on the phone and call Sinclair’s advertisers in your area (here’s a database
-
http://www.boycottsbg.com/advertisers/default.aspx
-
of who they are linked to by Josh Marshall, who also tells you why this might work
-
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_10_10.php#003648
-
and how to do it)
-
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_10_10.php#003654
-
then get involved in the movement
-
http://www.sinclairwatch.org/
-
to scare them by having their licenses - to borrow the public airwaves, which we still own - not renewed.

Then when you’ve done all that, do what former FCC Chair Reed Hundt just suggested on AirAmerica: contact the FCC commissioners
-
http://www.fcc.gov/contacts.html
-
and let them know how you feel about Sinclair acting like they own the airwaves they actually "borrow" from us.

And if you’ve got some cash, why not try out the idea one of TPM’s readers had: buy some stock in that wretched company
-
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_10_10.php#003642
-
and then sue them as a shareholder to stop them from diluting the value of your stake by broadcasting propaganda.
