Ned Lamont wins in Conneticutt.
My take.
This is the first major election where web logs or blogs effected the outcome.
A watershed date in politics history.
TMT
It is great to see a Democrat SAY what he means and MEAN what he says.
In addition, we need a real opposition party in this country instead of these weasle, pussy-assed, afraid of thier own shadow Democrats. We need more Senators and Congressmen like Ned Lamont in the Democratic party.
He kicks ass.

Lieberman had a 90% liberal voting record. He was always strong on the environment, higher taxes, and social spending. His only sin was he actually voted for the war (but never voted against it). If only he was a good lil' Dem and flip-flopped.
There is this massive myth that the Democrats think for themselves. What a joke! Bush has had opposition from the Republican moderates from the very beginning. Every Democrat is in lock-step. The DLC is dead. The only one who can pretend to be moderate is Hillary. And that is because she is just too powerful.

Nice to see that you've bought in to the Republican party talking points and the way the mainstream media reported this issue. This wasn't simply about supporting the war in Iraq. It was about the way Lieberman embraced Bush and the failed policy in Iraq and the way he lectured Democrats and others to not criticize the President. The bottom line is that Lieberman -- like Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld -- demonstrated a total disconnect from the reality of the situation in Iraq. If this was only about voting for the war, he would have been unopposed in the primary but his sins run much deeper.
Plus, he was in favor of keeping Schaivo's feeding tube IN even though her brain was liquified -- he was also the first Dem to call for Clinton's impeachment...Yep, Lieberman has been undermining the Democrats for a long time...
Plus, the broader issue is that this is about a growing desire for A REAL CHANGE and A REAL OPPOSITION PARTY in this country! Like Ann Coulter said,,,Liberman should just switch -- go all the way and become a Republican! That is the only thing I agree with her on.

If anyone had any questions about Lieberman's allegiance, consider that (a) Karl Rove has offered to support him and (b) that Ken Melman would not commit to supporting the republican candidate running against Lamont. Any questions about which side Lieberman is on?
They both march to the Automaton.
And I suppose you know the "reality" in Iraq because you read the NY Times. Do any of you care to change your views in light of what happened today or do you still want to hold hands with the French and the UN and wait until we get blown out of our office chairs again?
I thought we were fighting them over there so we didn't have to fight them over here. Oops... guess that didn't work. So after 2500 dead soldiers and billions of dollars, we're still no safer.
It's now free (or forced) to become a 100% opposition party. Up til now it's only been a 90% opposition party.
Even when some Republicans agree with Dems (like in spending more money), the Dems feel compelled to find ways to oppose (while still voting yes).

The part where the Dems have moved so far to the left that there is no more room for the 10% that might be in agreement with the Republicans sometimes,
or the part that because they are so far left now that it could eventually kill the party?
Easy, easy, easy. Take a few deep breaths there, fella. IF your theory is correct, and it's a good size if, the blogs only affected a Democrat primary in one of the bluest of the blue states. The traditional media covered the runoff as if it were a BFD, so how you can see the pajama clad blognuts turning out more voters than the NYT or Time, etc, I don't know. If Joe L. runs as an Independent, he will win for sure. Bet on it.
Defintely too much of a big deal being made of it. However, Lieberman winning as an indie is no lock.
he has no apparatus, his money has dried up, all the unions and lobbyists and big Democrat endorsements are heading to Lamont, his only platform is that he is pro-Bush and pro-war...if that sounds like a winner to you then the Republicans are going to get wiped out in November.
If I were a bet'in man, my money'd be on Lamond in the general erection -- The dude knows how to fight! Lieberman is a pussy. He always has been.
According to a close Lieberman adviser, the President's political guru, Karl Rove, has reached out to the Lieberman camp with a message straight from the Oval Office: "The boss wants to help. Whatever we can do, we will do."
No surprise being that Lieberman is more servile to the ideologies of the Fascist Automaton.
of far greater import is the fact that now BOTH parties are selling out the public treasure for the illegal alien vote.
the flood gate is now open.
tyler is well on his way to being fulfilled.
why would an illegal be any more anxious to vote than a citizen? Doesn't it make your head hurt as much as mine to deal with all these yelling assholes we call politicians? Is this something you look forward to? The only people I can imagine enjoying the process are the fellows who would be stabbing the ballot with their pencils, you know?
So what you're alleging is of course that campesinos sneak across the border, register and get themselves on the polls, and go down to vote for some ulterior motive, like when they're bribed?
Wouldn't it be easier to bribe the locals? Do you suppose large scale bribery might be hard to conceal? and small scale bribery might not be worth the trouble?
What, do you think that the Mexicans might be enlisting their citizens to influence US elections? Well, that's an interesting hypothesis, and it could go a long way to explaining why our country is so fucked up. OTOH, that sounds more like something Fidel would do than the Mexicans. After all, the Mexicans are pretty much a shiftless lot who just want to be left alone, and as long as we buy their drugs, they're happy to leave us alone.
But Fidel, there's a fellow who has a real good reason to want to sneak people in an fuck up our elections with people like George Bush.
But the Supreme Court beat 'em to it, didn't they?
my head hurts most days anyways...I run a business in the People's Republic of Californiacation
pancho does'nt give a fuck about our politics, he's just sick of hearing about how his old playmate from Playa Con Carne sends USD$ to la familia home from his job washing platos in LA, so he decides to come up here and get him some.
Dems see this warm body and stick a pencil in its hand and tell him he'll get free health care if he just chacks all the boxes with "D"s in front of em. He does, en-mass.
Pubs catch on, and liking power more than principles decide to get in on the pimpathon and send 6,000 NG's to go kick rocks in the desert....
I'm looking at everything south of the border piling in in a few years...
Good time to buy beachfront in Panama and Costa Rica BTW.....less crowded than yrs past...
not that I blame you.
OTOH, I think the fact is that small scale fraud ain't worth it, and large scale fraud can't be concealed. I don't intuit conspiracies, if for no other reason than the fact that anybody bright enough to run a criminal conspiracy can usually make more money going straight.
I think the scams and rackets come up in bureaucracy, eg, the time you go down to the polls and find you've been disenrolled for some technical reason.
IMHO, I think it's not too much to require the registrar of voters to send you a postcard to your registered address 60 days in advance of disenrolling you. I think there's 39 cents worth of property interest in registration.
I agree that a lot of politics is about appearance, and sending the NGs to, as you say, "kick rocks" is BS.
I think that people ignore that most UA entries are not jumping the border, but at the ports of entry; and that is precisely the people who cause us most trouble. Wetbacks are just not the problem terrorists are. The logic would be, focus the effort at the ports, and IMHO, transportation security.
