Some are nuts.
Some are cultists.
Some are angry failures who want to blame anyone but themselves.

2) He is a self-proclaimed "reasonable and intelligent poster" here.
3) He is a transparent partisan hack.
4) He is a raging ageist.

It's complicated. Certainly there are some with low intelligence who are easy to manipulate. Others have been radicalized by extreme, repetitive, right-wing propaganda. Many are fearful and angry due to changing cultural norms and demographics and pine for a strong authoritarian leader to save their way of life. Some feel ignored and looked down upon so they are highly receptive to demagoguery.  With others their self-identify is all wrapped up with MAGA and makes them intractable and consequently overly protective, defensive, and combative toward critics and legitimate media. Someday, when this malicious movement is gone, historians and authors will chronicle copious volumes of this dark period in our history replete with cautionary tales. Future generations will ask "what the fuck were they thinking?".

History will not be kind to them. If will be even less kind to their Dear Leader, who will be adjudged the worst President of all time and the most destructive.
