I am surprised no one has posted anything about this. Providers and hobbyists has the social security tax adjustment impacted your activities in the hobby ? For the guys have you cut back, for the ladies have you seen a drop in in business.

For me just a slight cutback, I am giving back a few hundred back to SS tax every month now, that means 1 to 2 less appointments per month for me.

It seems like the ladies are more available now, especially for the those early morning appointments before going to work.

Not that big of a deal. At most 2300 per year for high income people.

If one is participating in a luxury hobby such as this it shouldn't impact them at all.

If I were that broke that a cut of 2% would make a dent in my hobby, I wouldn't be hobbying at all.

I live way below my means anyway.. But again that's me.  I have run into quite a few people around here who will think twice before they pay for VIP membership, but still will pay for pussy. I am never able to understand the logic..

I have already seen price decreases with the BP ladies. Unsolicited texts, etc. One lady posted $30/10 minutes (scary did not know rates would go that low).

Glad there is a cap. Man I must be getting old, I remember when it was at $65,000 for the cap.

Those are old, they are using chargers and challengers. I will let someone else take one for the team.

Top marginal tax rate: increase from 35 percent to 39.6 percent for taxable incomes over $450,000 ($400,000 for single filers).

Phase out of personal exemptions for adjusted gross income (AGI) over $300,000 ($250,000 for single filers).

Phase down of itemized deductions for AGI over $300,000 ($250,000 for single filers).

Tax rates on investment: increase in the rate on dividends and capital gains from 15 percent to 20 percent for taxable incomes over $450,000 ($400,000 for single filers).

Another investment tax increase: 3.8 percent surtax on investment income for taxpayers with taxable income exceeding $250,000 ($200,000 for singles).

Another payroll tax hike: 0.9 percent increase in the Hospital Insurance portion of the payroll tax for incomes over $250,000 ($200,000 for single filers).

Add all these little percentages up and multiply it times 100k, 200k, 500k or more and that's a lot of discretionary income.  Not complaining, just saying... Many of the hobbyists that spend on the high end providers may have a little less in the paycheck to play with.  No opinion here (for fear this gets moved) just facts and observations.

It's not that I make so much money that it doesn't make a difference.  It's just more that I don't spend every last dollar I have so my budget isn't so constrained that a small tax hike is gonna totally destroy or affect my consumption patterns.

that it was a "Tax Holiday" not a permanent tax reduction, and holidays end motherfuckers !!! Hmm... like Saturday... Sunday and then Monday....when the weekend ends and you have to drag your ass to work !!!

I never liked the idea of having it in the first place as it dig a hole in SS fund. And that's Social Security...Not SaturnSky LOL :D

Rising Obamacare taxes. Rising payroll taxes. Rising income taxes. Higher death tax. Local and state taxes rising. Global competition. High fuel/energy/food costs. Business owners and the middle class will take it up the ass.

This will certainly hurt the business. the only question is, how much?

That sounds exactly like where many providers are (assuming they file taxes).  If they have cash based business and don't pay taxes, it's a different story altogether.

Anybody giving your local independent contractor a 1099 this year?  :)

The US has the lowest individual tax rates of any industrial nation. Earning 450 k after deductions and complaining about a tax rate that is marginally higher than someone earning 250k is a bit of a joke. I truthfully dont mind paying more if its put towards paying off our debt, I cant imagine selling out my childrens future to satisfy my desire for sex weekly.

really believe that a country whose Soc. Sec. is going broke, whose Medicare/caid is going broke, whose national train system, Amtrak, IS broke, whose national mail carrying system IS broke, that adds yet ANOTHER wasteful program in Obamacare that will bleed red ink all over the place...ithat spends $1.3 trillion dollars more per year than it takes in and has almost $17 trillion in debt is going to put its higher taxes on the American people to paying down its debt is just delusional. They bought into the bull shit. Greece is right CPA. Were all getting f*cked in the ass. With no KY though.

If 2% makes that much of an impact, you shouldn't be hobbying anyway.

The hobby market is affected by the interplay of two factors - discretionary income and consumer confidence. In short, if you have money to spend and are reasonably certain that your income source will continue, your individual hobby practices should not change.   While the hype about the fiscal cliff may have had a temporary chilling effect late in the 4th quarter, the reality is far less onerous. I predict that 2013 will be a good year for the hobby based on three factors:
1. Oil prices. The spot price for Brent crude averaged $112 per barrel in 2012, which will fall to an average of $105 in 2013. We can expect lower gas and diesel prices at the pump through 2014.
2. At home food prices.  The transmission of commodity price to retail price from last year's drought will be felt in 2013. But even with the skyrocketing cost of corn and soybeans, the cost of food increase will be around 3% compared to an overall rate of inflation of about 2.3%
3. Jobs.  While unemployment will continue the hover just below 7%, 2013 should be the best year for overall job growth since 2007, fueled in large part by the steady recovery of the housing market and substantial growth in the energy sector. More importantly, 2012 saw record increases in employee turnover. This is forcing many employers to focus on retention, which will drive average salary increases to nearly 3.7%.
Arguably, mine is a rather primitive model. But I find that the average person does not base spending decisions on GDP growth, fluctuations in the credit markets or the geo-political situation in China. They base it on how much to fill the tank, how much to fill their bellies and how much of a raise they are getting.
Check back next year and see if I was right. Remember, you heard it here first.

I am not in the dark or blind to how politicians are wasting or money and not being anywhere near fisically responsible. Taxes need to go up by about 20% across the board and spending cut by 1/3 to get close to being squared up. I dont feel that you should have families getting more back in refunds then they pay in, conversely if you have a top heavy economy it will fail as well. The middle class discretionary spending is what drives the US and to a large extent world economy. Too many people are on programs that dont need to be there, cheat on their taxes ect. Where is the personal pride in being an american?

I absolutely wouldn't mind paying more in taxes "if it's put towards paying off our debt" as you say. The big problem I have is that what I always see is that the taxes begin now, sometimes even retroactively, while the spending cuts are somewhere out into a future that never seems to arrive!!

Well you have politicians more worried about being reelected then the future of america. If they were honest with with the voters they d never be reelected. Pork projects that are bad for the counrty but good for certian areas are a joke. My wife and i make really good money and can pay more but it needs to go for the right things. There are some hard decisions to be made and the idea of the general public of entitlement programs being entitlements needs to change.
