First off, I hate soccer and I haven't been paying much attention  
FIFA has rules, we may not like them but rules are rules  
I saw the play and I thought it was accidental but then again soccer is all about the flopping and fake injuries..bullshit the refs
But rules are rules and political figures should NEVER get involved  
Now we’re the ugly American and it’ll seem that the world is hoping for a America loss tonight, and if we should lose.,,then chalk it up to karma  
By the way , the irony of it all is that the player being reinstated is a “Birthright “ citizen…🤣🤣🤣
Wonder if Trump knew that …bet he didn’t 🤣

So you don’t know much about the rules. That’s OK. But accidental contact does not equal red card. You’re basically agreeing with Trump that it wasn’t a red card worthy foul. So you find yourself agreeing with Trump. Have you noticed the world hasn’t stopped turning? You can still disagree with him on everything else. Just allow yourself to enjoy the patriotism surrounding the American public unifying around our team.

I agree with Trump and most that it was accidental… but it was called a red card violation so we have to live with it, but the crying and moaning about it show how classless we can be  
But if you’re ok with Trump interfering with elections then your support of this reversal doesn’t surprise me at all
Now any win by the American team will seem tainted  , but hey let’s win at all cost, right?

would have damaged the reputation of the world cup org, so sweeping it under the rug may have been the best option.    Referees have more control over the outcome of a game in Soccer than in any other sport.  Vegas bookies are making a killing on the World Cup.  A crooked referee could make an anonymous bet through a third party and then engineer a win by the underdog and clean up.  Did anyone see now with ten seconds to go in the Mexico/England game last night, the referee awarded 11 more minutes of playing time to give Mexico a chance to tie the score?  This kind of control SHOULD be investigated but it would make the who system a sham.

The optics of this looks total BULLSHIT of Trump to make the call.    I agree 100% stay out of sports.

 
BUT.... there is more to the story.   FIFA was getting lots of pressure from many.   It was already in the hands of an "independent" investigation prior to the call from Trump.    Now we will never know that if this "independent" investigation would have reversed it or not "IF" Trump didn't make the call.     The "call" will be the black eye on this whole situation.

 
To put it into context.   ROLANDO had a red card during the qualifications to get into the world cup.  This would have made him miss the first games of the competition.  This independent review board overturned it to allow him to play and not miss a game.   So it can happen.

Are you talking about Cristiano Ronaldo?  The one-word name "Ronaldo" refers to the "original" Ronaldo, the legendary Brazilian soccer star who was always known only by his first name, as are many Brazilian soccer players.  The Portuguese player is almost always called "Cristiano Ronaldo" to distinguish him from the original Ronaldo.

Yep.... make fun of a typo but not the actual fact of what happened.    The player was allowed to play even after a red card was given.   THE INDEPENDENT BOARD DID THE REVERSAL.

REALLY.... how about how the players performed?

 
1. Goal keeper screwup that lead to goal #3 which made it a two goal deficit  
2. The "drop passes" that team USA kept doing and there was nobody there to receive them and Belgium stole those passes.
3. Belgium made the USA play defense which team USA isn't good at.   The formed a plan and executed it.    

Congrats to the team that played better last night.

How many times have teams overcome setbacks (an injured player; a sidelined player; a red carded player), come together and play with greater than usual intensity and determination to go on to win? Many times. (Happened to me and my college pals every now and then.) (NY Knicks, injured Willis Reed vs LA Lakers, 1970, Game 7, NBA Championship Finals. Knicks won, 113-99.)

It is possible that, motivated by playing without Balogun, every US player would have given 110% to make up for his replacement's "deficiency" and easily defeated Belgium. (Happened to me and my college pals every now and then.)

How about, "Win one for the Gipper."?

(I watched some replay clips, mostly just the scoring plays. US looked TERRIBLE, many unforced errors.)

I wonder if Trump will demand that they recount the goals? "It was rigged!" I wonder if Trump will raise tariffs on Belgium? In the meantime, Belgium should probably put their military on high alert to intercept possible armed reprisals from Trump and Hegseth.

what you are talking about.  This soccer team has done better this year than any previous US soccer team going to the World Cup.   More winning games, more scoring and went further in the brackets once elimination started.  I'm not a fan of soccer.  For me, it's Ice Hockey for sissies, but I can certainly appreciate, as an American patriot, the accomplishments of this best-ever US team representing the Country under the leadership of President Trump.  

 
This was an embarrassing loss to Belgium but blaming Trump seems misplaced and petty on your part, especially based solely on your "what-if" speculation.   Why is it that Democrats always see the cup as half empty rather than half full.  They lost the game, but it was a triumph of sorts in the context of the US team's growth and maturity in this sport.  

 
It's a shame they did not consider playing the US Women's team against Belgium.  They have been Olympic Champions.  Lol

People will want to say "embarrassing" loss.    How about give credit to Belgium for coming up with a game plan and executing it.    They made team USA play defense and that is their weak point.     Team USA didn't execute many things.... I keep bringing it up....but the drop passes that nobody was around to receive and Belgium stole them.    Want to ignore the big screw up by the goal keeper that made the score 3-1. Which in soccer (like hockey) isn't the easiest to over come a 2 score match.   With that being said about the 2 goal deficit.... team USA didn't change tactics at all.  

 
Team USA had a great run but you could see the "flaws" in their game even in the group play.   Look what Turkie did to them!!!    Scored 2 at the end of the game to win.    Yeah Team USA didn't have the "normal" players in at that time.... but they are still on the team and should play at that level and coaching should be the same.

difference was that Belgium played the game as team and had a number of practiced "plays" like you have in American football in order to get certain players into scoring position, while the US team looked like a bunch of individuals each trying to win the game by themselves for the team.   That shows a lack of experience at this level of play, and more importantly, a lack of discipline in executing whatever their plan was.

We were visitors at the rival campus. They hosted a friendly get together before the start of the tournament and served Cocktail Franks on toothpicks. Our #1 got a nasty splinter from a badly mangled (maybe even deliberately mangled) toothpick. The hosts rushed him to the student health center for an emergency splinterectomy (not to be confused with splenectomy or sphincterectomy). The nurse bandaged BOTH hands up to the elbows (he looked like a relative of the Michelin Man) and he was escorted back to the tournament venue where it was determined that he would not be able to move his pieces and thus could not play. He was replaced by a lesser player who rose to the occasion.

The opposing #1 grinned like a Cheshire Cat as if he knew something was up but our bumped up player played his best Sicilian ever and his opponent resigned after 27 moves.  Meanwhile, every other team member was thinking, "Without our #1, I have to play extra hard and gain every possible point." ... Which they all did and we won the match by a wide margin.

We found out later that the "nurse" was actually the GF of their #1 dressed up as a nurse and her job was to hobble our #1 and make sure that he wouldn't be able to play.  
.
The value of being motivated by disadvantage was an immeasurable contributor to our success that day.

On another road trip, some of our equipment bags were lost which would have a major impact on the performance of some of our team mates who really needed them -- or thought they did. After wasting time with the usual frantic phone calls to the airline, etc., we came together as a TEAM to address the situation. We each donated some or own stuff and came up with borrowed or loaned supplies and prepped our team mates on how to make the best use of them. We grilled them with Qs and As, helping them to remember everything that we had been practicing for the previous weeks. We peppered them like you pepper an ice hockey goalie with slap shots during warmups but we also coached and advised them, with better answers, the same way: "Keep your elbow up higher!" "Use that borrowed blocker to close that gap!" And so on. By the time we were finished, they were running on auto-pilot.

Everyone was nervous as we entered the forum. The opposing team was already there, fully equipped with their flashy, expensive gear. We didn't want the judges to think that our team was overconfident so they entered carrying some of our equipment that we loaned them just for appearances sake.  
.
As the contest began, our guys opened with several powerful shots to make the case that they were there to play. When the opponents took over, our team mates were jotting down notes and already confidently planning their rebuttals from memory alone. They pulled out some papers every now and then to make it appear that they were looking up sources even though the papers were about a completely different topic. One of our guys even put on a 5-second show of fake frantic-faced fearful "Oh no! I can't find it!" while shuffling blank papers! (It was funny to us, but the judges didn't know.)

When the dust settled, it wasn't just the judges that were convinced who had won but I think we had completely convinced the opponents to join our side, too!  
.
We were faced with adversity -- lost equipment -- but the team closed ranks and prepared to compete with greater vigor than our opponents might have expected ... and we won!

And there was no debating the outcome!

(This was college days, when we equipped ourselves with paper and leather (or faux leather). Today, "equipment" has been reduced to a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone.)

Yet, he claimed to know sports "really well" and that he's "really good at this stuff."  Meaning, I guess, that he can tell what's a foul or not.   And, trump doesn't even know how game suspensions work in sports??  For fucks sake!  "...but how do you penalize them for a game that hasn't been played yet?  It's very unfair.  You can't do that."  (sigh)
