I like animals, but I'd like to put an end to pet ownership. Just on the fact the pet industry is a barbarik institution, if it ceased to exist there would be a sharp decline of stray and abused animals.

    Limits are important and many of the things you mention are limited already nation wide.  
    Afghanistan is probably the most restricive nation in the world actually. Women are stone for showing their faces, you can be exacuted for drinking booze... come on.  
     Do you really think the government should limit what size soda you order? Maybe they should limit alcohol and tobacco first both cost society hundreds of billions more per yr than soda. Blaming the obesity rate and health problems with it on soda is stupid. Maybe they should just issue daily meals for everyone and make ban anything else? Its the only thing that would have an effect, weigh in before you get fed, if you're to fat than no meal. Where do you think the line should be because thats the only difference I see between you and me. 20 oz soda ban is ok but pot should be legal? You like pot so its ok, dont enjoy a large soda so it s bad... dont own a gun so limiting their rights is ok, but not changing the laws against gay marriage fast enough is the end of the world.  
       Marriage started as a religious term and has been since the 1400's. Maybe the government should refer to all unions as civil unions and not marriages and give civil unions and all civil unions the same rights as married couples now enjoy. Marriages than could be determined by your church or religious leaders, many churchs now recognise gay marriage and allow it. The million that are spent by both sides on this issue could go towards better uses.

   Obesity is really a personal problem. Why take away all person responsibility in it? Delievering food to people who are so obese they cant get out of bed isnt helping. Maybe health care rates should take into account all your person habits? Smoking, drug use, alcohol use, obesity and high risk activities... then you can get an acurate rate. If you dont carry coverage then maybe hospitials should be able to deny treatment. Make people responsible for some portion of their own lives.
    Health care costs arent only obesity. Most of it is treatment of senior citizens to extend their lives even when they have terminal conditions. We spend more than any other nation in the world on health care for a couple reasons. People have no idea what their insurance is paying for services and shopping around, we have the most advanced health care in the world, we have more perscription drug cost per capita than any where else in the world by about 4 times the next nearest actually. It wont be long and medical advances will make life spans of 130+ years possible if you have enough money. If it costs 2 million a yr to keep someone alive at that point do we do it as a society? Do we provide it to everyone? Its closer than many believe to being a reality with stem cell research and cloning that s now available. Growing replacement parts is a reality now, imagine 20 yrs from now.
        Marriage- is a religious term and has been in nearly every religion for 1000 yrs. Well before our constitution and the idea of seperation of church and state. You even said it s a term used in the bible and consecrated in churches before the start of america. To take that term and use it to describe a civil union which is all our government should acknowledge is wrong. Its like changing the definition of a priest in the catholic church to include women and gay men. WHy cant they do it? Because its protected by religious freedom, even if its discrimination.

Soda is the issue? A restriction on 20 oz soda is the answer. Its a joke.  
    Obestity doesnt have to bankrupt the country, we let it. Let obese people pass away, or pay for their own treatment, charge them more for their insurance over their lifetime.  
    Limits that make sense and can be supported by fact are fine. Never said they werent. I've used facts repeatedly to agrue against some parts of the gun control regs they want to pass because facts dont support them. If everyone was locked into padded rooms, fed a restricted diet, forced to exercise no one would ever be hurt or die accidentally and be much healthier, does it mean we should do it?
