But he was at a lunch last week with other Republican Senators.  Many of whom were also meeting with Barrett last week. So it's likely Covid will continue ripping through the ranks of Senate Republicans. If this turns out to be true it could completely derail the confirmation process. Wouldn't that be a shame?
IOW, THEY BROUGHT THIS UPON THEMSELVES by following the President's reckless behavior.
Consequences.

After all, he was at the Super-spreader Festival a week ago without a mask.

What are the laws, rules, and regulations that affect or "protect" Senators and Reps carrying out their sworn duties? I am remembering old stories (pre-internet, pre-tech, physical presence being the only option) about Sens/Reps rushing back to The Hill to cast votes.
.
Pulled over for speeding? Cannot be further detained; must be set free to return, even breaking the local speeding laws, to vote.
Other crimes or misdemeanors or tactics that would prevent a Sen or Rep from getting to the vote?  Sen or Rep MUST be allowed to get to the Chambers to vote.
Petty or even false detention of a representative of the people is a tactic used by dictators and authoritarians in some countries and it should not be allowed to happen.  However, ...
.
I imagine that pesky rules of quarantining or isolating or masking cannot stop a sick (double meaning intended) Sen forcing their way OUT of quarantine and INTO the Sen Chambers.
.
The issue at hand is not a Declaration of War against an enemy actively bombing our homeland. It is an issue that the Republicans have already declared and shown to be that the SCOTUS votes can be delayed for months and months (Feb 2016 [Scalia's death] until April 2017 [Gorsuch approval]).
.
If you are a sick-o Sen, stay quarantined. Let the healthy members present vote or delay the vote.

"Setting up remote voting would require a change in the Senate rules. The proposal would give the Senate majority and minority leaders the ability to jointly authorize remote voting for 30 days. After that, the Senate would need to vote to reauthorize."

And that is that they have until January 21st to approve the nominee. As far as election day is concerned, it is a moot point.

From Wiki:
"The 117th United States Congress is the next meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It is scheduled to meet in Washington, D.C., from January 3, 2021 to January 3, 2023. The elections of November 2020 will decide control of both houses."
The current Congress ends the same day.

Yep, Stronzo fucked up on the inauguration date, but the overall point is that the the date of the election does not de facto determine whether or not the supreme court nominee will be confirmed. The CURRENT Senate has the say until the date of the inauguration.

That’s why you see all the far left libs shitting in their pants. So sez STRONZO.

You got the inauguration date RIGHT. It IS Jan. 20. You got the date of the new Congress WRONG. It is Jan.3.
The CURRENT Senate does NOT have the say until the date of the inauguration.
STRONZO, your level of stupidity and lack of reading comprehension is mind-blowing.
Please go away until you've learned to read.

In a moment of weakness, and after a few glasses of wine, I actually got confused by Laffy’s post.. Again the MAIN point (which you don’t  really want to address) is that no matter what happens on election day, the current Senate has time to confirm Trump’s nominee. Now, is that clear enough? Or do you want to descend into an endless tirade over my learning skills?
